March 3, 201412 yr I want to see that documentary that won. Looks pretty interesting. I saw the other four. The Act of Killing was REALLY good and thought it would win but I haven't seen the winner. I agree with you, it does look interesting.
March 3, 201412 yr I'm in an Oscar pool and my weekly trips to the movies are not helping. The guy that's winning hasn't seen a single one of these movies. So it goes. All you had to do was vote for Gravity and you would of won. It just won best director....can't figure it out.
March 3, 201412 yr All you had to do was vote for Gravity and you would of won. It just won best director....can't figure it out. I really enjoyed Gravity. It's deservedly won a ton of technical awards but I think sometimes of the voters just get on a roll and start voting straight ticket.
March 3, 201412 yr I love Ellen! Her style of humor is my favorite. Definitely NOT my cup of tea. Don't find her funny at all. I quit watching the Oscars show a long time ago, got tired of all the politics seeping into the speeches.
March 3, 201412 yr Wooderson gets the Best Actor award. And he even capped it with Alright, Alright, Alright.

March 3, 201412 yr I watched my first Oscars broadcast in 1963, the year Sidney Poitier won Best Actor for Lillie's Of The Field. I've only missed a couple of them since then. Always enjoy the Oscars, but I do wonder what the voters were thinking in some of the winners. How on earth did Shakespeare In Love beat out Saving Private Ryan for Best Picture? How did the mostly forgotten Ghandi beat out E.T.? Sometimes they just don't get it right, and history usually proves it, as with Citizen Kane losing out to How Green Was My Valley. There's a long list of movies and actors that should have won but didn't.
March 3, 201412 yr Ellen has me laughing so hard I'm crying. I did not watch it but heard she was very funny.

There's a long list of movies and actors that should have won but didn't. Unfortunately it is very political. Not as political however as the golden Globes which is well known to be nothing more than the highest bidder awards. The golden Globes has been so crooked that they came out with a documentary (I forget the name of it) about how corrupt the Golden Globes were. Basically any movie maker who wanted to pay the price could get his/her movie into the finalist of a Golden Globe category and win etc. It has long been a big scam. I love watching the Oscars though and even though there is politics in them, it's stil fun to watch someone who is genuinely humbled when they win. The one that upset me last night the most was best director. I mean seriously? Gravity? all he did was direct in front of a green screen the entire time. It was the special effects that made the movie bearable. Personally I think Steve McQueen should of won for 12 years a slave.

I've also heard that many voters don't watch the entire movie for most of the nominees. If they watch any it's just snippets and that many vote in blocks.
March 3, 201412 yr I have never watched a film or music awards show, nor a beauty pagent. Just not my thing. I do care enough to look up the winners the next day.
