So about 71 kids out of the 10k or so that play varsity football. Probably about 1/3 that are seniors. Right at about 2%, half of which are true D1 (not FCS) or about 1%. And it looks like about 1/2 or more are going to a Kentucky school. Considering some of recruiting truly is fit (not just athletically or system but also position need), I think KY schools are doing a pretty good job of recruiting and keeping instate talent. And when you see a number of these kids are going Service Academy, or Ivy League (which to me is equally impressive), some of these kids were never going to stay instate.

The "fit test" is the biggest excuse in college sports. The only fit that exists is, does the player want to play at that school, and does the school want that player. End of story. And, 99% of the time the player wants to play at the school that shows the most interest.

Incorrect. Fit is most certainly a consideration. Oregon looks for the right "fit" to play their style. Saban isn't bringing in a lot of 5'9 160 lb running backs and spreading them in space. Urban Meyer seems to like the dual thread QB. And 99% is WAY too high. If that was the case, the coach at EKU would only have to step up his mailing/phone calls and his roster would be Alabama's.

I see Oregon and Saban, but what kind of players are the Kentucky schools looking for? What are they finding? What in state player can play for Ohio University, or Georgia State but can't play at EKU or Murray?

Another excuse, "we didn't recruit them because we weren't going to get them anyway". There are players on that list could have, and probably would have, stayed in state if given the opportunity.

Ram, do you know anything about Kentucky State or Kentucky Wesleyan? Do they recruit much instate? We don't see them in NKy.

Given the ability to use kees money, the incentive to stay instate is significant. Plus athletic scholarships that have to fund out of state tuition can be a consideration.

A D1 scholarship is "all or nothing", there is no such thing as a "partial" D1 scholarship.

Agree with that point. How many of the kids on your list had offers to play in state, but chose to go outside? May I ask where you got your numbers? I looked at the rosters of Murray State and EKU, and those numbers alone add up to 76.

I don't think that's an excuse. A service academy kid or kid who's going Ivy League is doing so for a reason, and likely football is a small part of that. It's a different type of student, and none of the instate schools can offer an Ivy or service academy "experience" if that's what a kid is looking for. That's not a bad thing, but it is what it is. If a kid has his heart set on Navy, or Dartmouth, I don't think there is much Louisville (or Murray, Uk, etc) could do to get them to change their mind. Recruiting is a two way street. There has to be an interest andneed on both parties, the student and the school.

Hey, does anyone want to talk about Simon Kenton? :idunno:

Hey, does anyone want to talk about Simon Kenton? :idunno:

They are going to be best team in state.

They will shut out Ryle

They have 17 kids that will go D1

They have three kids in middle school that are going to be beasts.

Their new QB is also better than Drew Barker
