How did Ryle playing Colerain help their team either year? I'd like to see some better teams on SK's schedule but I don't think playing Colerain the past two years would have done much for them to be honest.

Iam beginning to wonder if Warner didn't play Colerain on purpose. LOL

He could have easily just kept the two game deal with HHS and maybe even competed but to drop HHS and go get bull dozed by Colerain 2 straight yrs made zero sense imo. It makes a person wonder if he didnt already know his fate 2 yrs ago.

Could argue that all day. Athletes should always seek out someone better to play, thats how you improve. I would ask you, what good does playing 1 or 2a schools? All that does is stroke the ciaches ego, and makes the kids think they are better than they are, thus losing to inferior competition in the playoffs.

Warner scheduled Colerain, LaSalle and another strong Ohio school I can't quite remember. Coach Warner now has a lot more time on his hands to invest in his real estate business! Competitive scheduling is one thing. Scheduling out of your league is another!

Depends on what Ryle and CC have coming back. Collins, Cooper and Conner all lost a lot of talent so those are also hard to guage.

Ryle needs to learn how to score on SK's first string defense first. :D

Those schools had nothing to do with the demise of Ryle. They are losing to everybody right now, even the mediocre 6a schools in NKY. No way to justify the schedule at SK, but guess the attitude on here is an indication of the genpop in Indy.

With this being the end of the 2yr cycle for scheduling and the "talent" SK has on their current roster and coming up the next few years will they "step up" and play some of the traditionally stronger 4A/5A/6A schools or continue to schedule so they can get to their goal of a 10-0 season?

And yes I did one long sentence to honor our favorite SK poster.

Actually that was the demise of Warner, not Ryle as a program. Ryle will be back on top soon enough.

1. Marksberry created a ton of enthusiasm for football in Independence.

2. Winning created that enthusiasm.

3. Jimmy and Joes won those games (along with some great coaching).

4. Anybody doubting the quality of football at NCC should be ashamed of themselves.

Everybody loved Scott last year. Their schedule was super soft but it allowed them to build some excitement and get folks talking about them positively.....maybe they are following the SK model. SK's schedule will change once the current contracts expire. Stop hating on the kids who continue to compete with anyone that shows up to play them.

Who has said one thing about the kids? I am sure they would love the opportunity to shut the naysayers up, but they have a coach that is holding them back for the sake of his ego. Great kids over there, I think they would do great vs any schedule if given the chance. NCC is great football, but it's still 2a. Delphos St. John's is an AWESOME small school program in Ohio, but Moe isn't calling them to play. Moe took their lumps a couple years playing a brutal schedule, now they are reaping the rewards. I would equate Marksberry to Marvin Lewis on the pro level. He has rebuilt and gotten the program back to a nice level, but he has reached his pinnacle, and I think he knows that.

I am curious as to why you feel the way you do against Coach Marksberry. This program continues to get better and better and your ramblings right now ring hollow and sound as if you have an axe to grind. You speak of losing to teams with less talent in the playoffs, who would this be? I was at the last two playoff games and Butler was equal to SK in talent and Scott County the year before was clearly superior in talent. As mentioned above the schedule was set after a 2-9 season. SK is not Moeller their players come from Independence their talent levels are cyclical. Do they need to upgrade their schedule? Yes and I am sure they will but they also do not need to get out over their skis much like Ryle did. I look for either Cov Cath or Highlands to be on their schedule very soon maybe even a Cincy team but it will be done intelligently and with thought of upcoming talent. As I mentioned above they have 112 kids on roster next year. This program has climbed to heights it has never seen before and it shows no signs of slowing down over the next few years.

No axe to grind, never met the man, but you are right. I have no dog in this fight, I am allowing a "couple" BGP posters to cloud my judgement and affect my views. I will back out, and apologize for my tone.

Very well said.....

If you have seen the results of Marksberry in the big games and tell me that is good coaching, then you have never seen good coaching. In recent years, against Ryle, St. X, and Butler to name a few. He has great kids and alot feeding into SK right now, which is attributed to the growth in the Southern end of the county, not because Marksberry did anything. He doesn't go the extra miles to help his kids get to colleges. Is that good coaching too? I think you guys must be enamored with some succes since SK hasn't had any. His track record is not impressive. If they don't win a state championship or don't make it to one in the next few years, is it still a success when you have that many kids on a fball team or are you gonna say they can't compete with Louisville talent? They have just as many players on the team at SK as those schools do. Stop making excuses for Marksberry

Don't let the Kool Aid drinkers scare you off of your perceptions. You being an outsider can see clearly

The one thing that really hurts Simon Kenton through the years is lack of overall team speed. Sure they are probably one of the bigger teams weight wise in the state but look at the success of teams at any division in the state of Kentucky and they all have very good overall speed. (Highlands has made a living on that for years). I don't know if the Southern Kenton area just doesn't have a lot of fast/quick kids, but in this age of football it is easy to spread teams out and go wide on runs or have speedy receivers go deep and drop in the big bomb. i.e. last years playoff game against Butler. I wasn't at that game but I would dare to say SK was much bigger and bulkier that Butler. It is easy to just manhandle less talented teams but in 6A to bring home the Gold you have to have good overall speed and quickness to compete with the Louisville teams. This is not a knock on any part of the program but they are going to have to develope more speed to get to the top of the mountain.
