Simon Kenton 2014

Not in 6A. Regional Championships matter in 6A because with those 2 ncaa programs in Louisville, its about as far as you are going to get.

Sorry, but I have to agree with I4C, who cares about district or regional titles. State Titles are the only thing that matters and the only thing that people will ever remember.

It is normal for a little competitive talking between district foes, however, until a nky 6a school knocks off a louisville power, we all end up in the same boat.

So you have already forgotten Cooper's run to a state title game?

So you have already forgotten Cooper's run to a state title game?

Nope, not at all. But if you think Cooper was satisfied with being runner up you are wrong. The only reason I will remember their run in 20 years was because of 2 things...1st and foremost was my son was part of that team and it was the first team in school history not only to win a playoff game but make it all the way to the state championship game. Do you think fans from Ryle cares that Cooper were runner ups in 20 years from now? No.

When you are part of a first in school history it is something that you personally will remember. It's not something that will be remembered by fans from other schools as years go past.

When was the first time Beechwood won state? It was 1984

When was the first time Beechwood won a playoff game? I have no clue.

When was the first time Male won regional title? I have no idea

See what I mean? It's the state titles that other people remember, not personal or school "firsts"

Any word on how the qb battle is going?

First Beechwood team to get to the Championship game? 1974. You are correct that few remember other than those who were there.

 whatever makes you feel good.

Unfortunately, it's the truth as we have it now. In time, the rest of the 6A guys will catch up to T and X and the entire state will rejoice.

I don't know about that. What is it, 15 out of the last 17 titles won by T or X? The only exceptions that come to mind are Scott county last year or Dixie, way back when. I just don't see that happening when you have so many programs located so close together all competing for talent , and some offering relatively easy paths to state titles.

As for the argument, I do not buy into the Team A beat Team B and Team B beat Team C, therefore Team A would beat Team C. Simon Kenton beat Collins on a last minute Field Goal in week zero. Collins beat Highlands on a last minute TD pass in the state title game.

So, to be fair, when Highlands beat an Ohio team by one score and that team goes on to win an Ohio State Championship, they don't crow about it?

Because, to be fair, that is what Simon Kenton did, beat an eventual State Champion by one score.

Who refuted that fact?

Who refuted that fact?

You diminished it, somewhat passive aggressively.

I don't refute they beat a state champion. That was done on the field. I refute that it means they would beat Highlands.

Beating Collins doesn't mean a hill of beans in the argument that SK would beat Highlands. Just because A beat B and B beat C, it doesn't mean A would beat C. Play the game and prove it. That is all.

Yep. Crow about something that actually happened. Say HHS beats St X Cincy, and St. X Cincy beats Cleve. St Eds in the finals. No one would be saying that HHS is better than St. Eds. All the crowing would be wrapped around what actually happened, they beat St. X. A fact or fiction scenario. What's fact? Whats fiction? and what do you hang your hat on...

But, beating a State Champion is an accomplishment and it seems that many still want to discredit Simon Kenton for doing that.

It just seems odd to me that people still can't give Simon Kenton credit for what they have done the last five years. Every year I read about "that being last year" and "just because they did that last year doesn't mean they will this year", but it seems that Simon Kenton is holding up their end of the bargain and winning, but it's never good enough.

Then above, people say they were the third best team in NKY because they didn't beat Highlands, but they did beat the team that beat Highlands. And, to be fair, I'm not a fan of comparing scores either, but the fact still remains that it is arguable, and possibly even probable that, last year, Simon Kenton was better then Highlands. It's not far fetched.

Let's compare the school sizes. Who did Highlands beat and how many boys in that school? Shouldn't 6A powerhouse Simon Kenton beat a 4A school by more than one score?

SK is an up and coming program, but they are a product of their soft scheduling. They won't get and don't deserve as much credit as some are wanting for them due to the soft scheduling. If they want respect as a program, they need to play some of the powerhouse big boy schools. Collins had their best class ever and took home the title, congrats to them.
