CovCath should be glad they didn't play SK 2 years ago. It would have been Swanson pick 6 just like the East/West Allstar game!

Duh, Butler. Throw Scott County into the mix as well. We only have a punchers chance. Cov Cath only has to beat Highlands and by the way, should have the advantage of a private catholic school and their ability to add non district players. Looking at it from that view, CovCath should be dominating a small city school.

Fixed it for you!

And here we have it- one of the great alliances on BGP. What brings them together?

SK and Cooper fans crying about respect.

And what do they both have in common? Neither plays Highlands or CCH.

Speaking of scheduling, what exactly did playing Moeller do for Cov Cath last year? The Cov Cath faithfull sure were not to happy with those Crusader flags running around their stadium every 3 minutes and a Crusader score!

I'm guessing you were there? Hell yes, it was a hard game to watch. But what the team learned is where they need to be in order to compete at that level. They played the the best team in Ohio and walked away knowing that it wouldn't get tougher than that all year long. Nothing at all to be ashamed of- but I'm sure someone will try and make it as such.

BTW- CCH returns the favor and plays Moeller at their place this year. Colonel Youth Football is also making the move to play in the GCYL which again, is a move to ramp up the competition and prepare the kids for a higher level of play walking into High School.

Well if you look at it as the team learning when they play and get trounced by teams like that..well sorry to say but apparently it didn't teach them anything except how to get crushed.

I say this because this isn't a one time thing that helped them prepare for the season ahead and helped them improve because when it's all said and done CCH didn't improve any and didn't win anything after the beat down. They also have been getting the beat down on a annual basis over the past 5 years, so what exactly are they gaining by playing those teams? How have they helped them achieve the ultimate goal of winning titles? How many titles have they won the last 5 years?

That's what I thought.

I will simply go back to what I've said again and again. When you schedule teams like that and can't win every once in awhile then scheduling them to only get crushed each and every year does nothing for the program. Strength of Schedule means squat if you can't win a game here and there against that type of competition. You can have the hardest schedule in the country but if you lose every game you are no better than a team that doesn't play a tough schedule and finishes 2-8.

What does Simon Kenton need to do to improve in 2014? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Maybe we should start over

Trinity , most years, is the same level as Moeller. How would you like to have that standing in your way of a state title?????!!!!!!

Trinity standing in the way of (pick your favorite N Ky team) at the state title game vs Highlands standing in the way at the districts is a little different wouldn't you say?

Guess it depends on what you value. Some on here say achievements are lessened if you can't get out of districts. Some say it doesn't matter how far you get, anything less than a state championship isn't worth remembering.

I say play the best if you want to be the best. Teaches you where you are and where you aren't.

First- I don't remember talking to you- my reply was to bball guy.

Third- as to not "winning anything". What did SK win by having a weaker schedule?

First - I could care less

Third - District championship

So keep going bluedud, try and explain how CCH getting beaten by an average of 31 points to those teams over the past 5 years has improved them. Again, what have they won? Nothing.

Put that on your bumper sticker but in reality it doesn't work that way. CCH's inability to win or improve after playing teams like that is proof enough it doesn't work like your fantasy world would suggest.

Highlands just posted games available for weeks 4, 5, and 6 for the next cycle. We'll see if SK bites.

To be clear, SK does not have to play Highlands or CovCath to be deemed successful, but they do if they want to be considered the top 2 in NKY. Any year where CovCath only loses to Highlands and a GCL team, they will be considered the second best team in NKY assuming Highlands doesn't lose to any NKY teams.

Zero would be the same amount of district titles SK or any other NKY school would have if playing in a district with Trinity. CovCath is in a district with Highlands who has dominated their class for the past 15 years. CovCath is not in the same ball park as Highlands, but in reality NKY football looks like this and has for the past 10 years.

1) Highlands

2) CovCath

3-10) Everybody Else.

The only way to change that is by playing one of the top two and beating them. Ryle beat Highlands & CovCath in 2010 and were crowned as NKY Champs. That is how you actually earn the right to call yourself the best. Again, SK has built a great program without playing those two, so success is not tied to playing Highlands and CovCath.

Well said

Your right- playing the best never makes you better-

So what about when CCH hdoes lose to another NKY team besides Highlands?

This was the case when Conner just beat them in 2012 yet CCH fans always seem to ignore things like that and put themselves right next to HHS in NKY

That has been my point from the start. SK doesn't get any credit and CCH seems to get the automatic bid as the 2nd best team in NKY no matter what. It's a bias that has been going on way too long with a team that can't even win their district.

2010,2011,2012 CCH wasn't even close to being the #2 team in NKY which is why I keep asking why do they get the automatic bid to the #2 spot every year?
