Simon Kenton 2014

SK seems to get bashed on here for claiming they are the greatest team in NKY every year, but not being willing to prove it against the 2 best teams in NKY. They are building a nice program, but you have to actually beat the best on the field to be considered the best.

Really just one poster doing that but you're right that it is one reason that SK doesn't get the slack other schools get.

Just remember SK beat Collins unlike Highlands.

That proves they were better than Collins. It does not prove they were better than Highlands.

As an observer, this sounds a little desperate considering Collins beat Highlands and Simon Kenton beat Collins. Weak argument. Somewhere, somehow, someday, some people are going to have to just break down and admit that Simon Kenton has built a very nice program over the last five years.

In my post, I stated that SK has built a very nice program. Credit is given as it is earned. They have been the 3rd best NKY football program over the past 5 years.

As for the argument, I do not buy into the Team A beat Team B and Team B beat Team C, therefore Team A would beat Team C. Simon Kenton beat Collins on a last minute Field Goal in week zero. Collins beat Highlands on a last minute TD pass in the state title game. I think Highlands vs. Simon Kenton would have been a great game last year, but you can't claim to be king of the mountain until you actually knock the king off the mountain.

Using the team ABC logic, you could conclude that CovCath was 40 or so points better than SK because CCH beat Conner by 50 and SK only beat Conner by 7. Highlands beat CCH, twice. In the end, all of that means nothing.

The Camels where a speed bump last year.

Key words being last year! Love how the Camels win 2 of the last 3 district titles and still get bulletin board material on here and no respect. New year and new kids so don't hurt your hand beating on your chest Tarzan!:thumb:

Don't forget that SK beat Campbell in the playoffs in their last game before moving to the new field (which I love, by the way).

Yes I know that. We beat them during the year to win districts and they beat us in the playoffs and last year Butler beat us both in the playoffs. Bottom line is we won districts and didn't advance in the playoffs and last year SK did the same thing winning district and getting beat by Butler. And if you add all that up it equals district champions and no state titles however you look at it. New Year with new players is all I'm saying.

Yep. I can't wait either. Looking forward to it.

However, SK has progressed much further in the playoffs that Campbell, despite having the better seed. Correct?

Correct but who cares who went further in the playoffs? Neither of us won the state championship. 1st round loser, 2nd round loser or 3rd round loser, does it matter? People only remember the rings.

Not in 6A. Regional Championships matter in 6A because with those 2 ncaa programs in Louisville, its about as far as you are going to get.
