Matt Jones Sued for Copyright Infringement...

Wonder how much he paid him...

Who knows? But my guess is it not as much as people are probably thinking. I am not sure how you put a large monetary value to what was "stolen" in this case.

I don't think he paid him much, but the pay day comes with future use of services.....

People can say what they want about Jones and whatever your personal opinion of him makes no difference to me, but I don't think they let just anyone into Duke Law, and I'd venture a guess that he knows what he's doing.

That said, I really don't know very much about the specifics of this case, but would think that if it was something horribly egregious, then this would probably be a much bigger issue than it is.

My guess is it was either a staffer who didn't know the rules, or Jones didn't figure he'd get called on it. At least he's making it right. Most photogs get screwed royally in this situation.

My lawyer cost $125 per hour and that's work a UD degree. Matt would be making more than that and he left law for the radio, he does extremely well I'm sure.

I'd say it's the bolded. Jones attempts to make it all UK news/photos, even if they're not the first to report it, mainly because they have the largest following of the crazies. I recall one of their "KSR College writers" plagiarizing an ENTIRE article from a premier CBS writer, who let it go without making a big deal about it. I like KSR's work, but I don't like how they go about it with their ethics, and I especially don't like how Jones handles his "haters" on twitter.

For example:

"Matt Jones ‏@KySportsRadio May 12

@JohnMichaelPR that truly hurts coming from one of the two guys in that picture"

Now, he's getting better at not doing it, given the last message of this type was around ten days ago, but he's pretty infamous for it. It's probably best to not answer the "hate" than to give a pretty bad vibe to people who actually follow you.

The ironic thing today is as the Capiluto thing broke, many people failed to give KSR credit. The HL did though

The HL's extra cautious about it. I'm pretty sure they also called "foul" on KSR's use of pictures/etc. without permission, kind of a little ongoing feud there.

I think if KSR always gave credit, then KSR would always get credit. Just my opinion.

Not only that, but he's basically living a Kentucky fan's dream.

Exactly. Easiest job in KY, getting a rise out of the #BBN.

Correct, just like the genius who built a website for passionate Bluegrass people to chat/debate/argue. If you love something and understand your audience you can make a product of it.

That's how the game is played. :thumb:
