NCC had three senior D-lineman that played as well or better than Zach...He has some work to do, but he could be a great one playing for the domers....Good luck to him!!

Its all about potential. The Smith kid didn't have the size to be D1. Also, Kiernan may be an o-lineman. When you're 6'6 with plenty of room for size improvement, you'll get attention.

They had one play better. Zach improved tremendously over the year.

I was told that ND has not shown a lot of interest YET. You may know better than I.

Didn't his uncle play there?

:thumb: I agree... throw all of the stats out the window when you look at lineman on either side of the ball. Colleges look for certain body types that they can mold to their liking. Look at Brent Grover HHS and Purdue player.... he was a thin in high school.... 6'4 220lbs....now he is huge...

Look at Joe Fischer from Covington Holy Cross. Was 6'7 with a good frame. He has worked his way quite nice up the UK O-line depth chart.

If he is good enough to play for Louisville, he is good enough to play for Notre Dame.

So did Zach's dad.

Update: Zach was on WLAP tonight and said that he thinks UK may be closer to offering him. So far, UL and UC are his offers with Illinois showing some interest.

He says he is 6'7 245 pounds. Obviously the frame is what coaches are looking at. He obviously needs to get bigger and stronger. He says he can bench 225 pounds "about 4 times".

Playing b-ball has probably kept the weight off and the strength down.

ND stopped by NCC this week.

I'm a little stunned that he can only bench 225 4 times......

Football offers from UL and UC with a potential offer from ND and there is probably someone trying to convince this young man he could be a hoop star at NKU!

Well we cannot tell the kid not to play. I'm assuming he realizes he's not D1 in basketball. However, what if he love basketball? Are we going to say "too bad"?

He has to be joking, I'm sure he's not brutally strong but I don't believe that number.

It seems as if I'm the only one that thinks this, and I'm alright with that but....

I was honestly shocked when I saw the title of this thread. Following that was more shock that ND was thrown out there. He's a tall kid with a good frame but I do not see him playing at any of the schools mentioned. If you say you bench 225 "about 4 times", that means he's probably gotten 4 once. I just don't see the size needed to play at all of the schools that have been mentioned. Also, if he does make it to one of these programs, I'll be the first to say I was wrong. If it's UK, I'll root him on. Again, I'm sure Rick Minter knows a little bit more about this kind of stuff than me, but I just don't see it.

This is one of the most important things to a college coach.

Plus with the pedigree this kid has, I have no doubt he makes it somewhere big.

Not only does Zach have great size and ability he is in the top 5 in his class.

Nd loves those kinds of kids.
