Chris Goodman isn't a freshman. Neither is Tommy Craig. Neither is Russell Sims. Drew Davis can't run like Goodman could and we all know Goodman's legs won that game for Mercer. Not his arm. I'm not saying Mercer County can't or won't beat Boyle but I am saying that nobody knows what will happen between now and then. If Drew Davis still can't play who will be the QB for Mercer County?

You are right about Goodman he is a big piece that will be missing next year. Past him everyone one else can be replaced. There are a lot of important young pieces in place though coming back. QB is a huge question mark. Chris's younger brother could be the answer. He will be a sophomore and he was the freshman that scored the TD against Boyle in the playoff game.

I'd be interested in seeing Dustin at QB. I've heard it could happen.

I believe gchs is a mercer fan hijacking our thread. Hoping to find a flaw, cause he knows last year was a fluke. Better enjoy last year, cause we were a sophmore laden team.

 

Hard to say I am hijacking the thread -- then respond specifically to my appraisal of BoCo's 2014 talent. I responded to a post, about a Boyle game I saw, then tried to steer right back on to topic. Don't know why you would say I am a Mercer fan... I am a football fan & try to see as many area games as possible. I also think this will be a fun rivalry - and that it will develop into a rivalry. I have said repeatedly that Boyle will have a chance to make a great run, next season.

It would be a shame. Boyle and Mercer should always play each other. I'd play against my best friend without fear. And beat him and then send him a text after the game reminding him that I just beat him.

Starting in the late 1980s/early 1990s some area programs climbed up and some slipped back and because there was a gap in enrollment and talent, many of those games went away. Some have never really come back. It is a shame. I think Boyle, Mercer, Danville, Garrard and Lincoln should all play each other on a fairly regular basis.

I would agree that they should play each other as long as the games were competitive year in and year out. if the rivalries became one sided then your team would have nothing to gain by playing these games I think you have to play good competition week in and week out if possible.

Definitely so. I know Garrard dropped Lincoln and Mercer in the late 80s because they just couldn't compete with them. Garrard and Boyle last played in 1990, when Garrard was on the uptick and Boyle was struggling. You have to do what is best for your program. But if possible, I'd love to see more area games. I do like the way bowl games at Boyle, Danville and Lincoln have worked in home-and-homes with teams lately.
