Does anyone know what is going on with Boyle losing enrollment? Everything i hear from my Boyle friends is that everyone is trying to find ways to transfer in there. It was odd to me that they were one of the schools that lost enrollment and were moving down a class?

 

It was news to me that I wasn't aware of until the realignment numbers came out.

 

I could be mistaken but I think Boyle was/is one of the smaller 4A schools. I guess the classes coming through Boyle now are not as big as they used to be. I know of more kids coming to Boyle than leaving Boyle.

From what I've heard Boyle had some very big classes during the last realignment. That one was the schools largest numbers in their history. I can remember the huge snowstorm of 1995/96 in that snowed everyone in for like a week. I blame that for the Boyle Baby Boom! that raised our numbers above the norm. I'm hearing everything is normal currently with the numbers.

I think it has to do with employment opportunities with in the county, IMO the loss of several factories over the past years is finally catching up with the enrollment.

This makes a lot of sense. Hopefully Corning will open up in Danville and boost enrollment.

Boyle has a wealth of talent returning. I don't think people realize how young they were last year. With that years experience and Chuck Smith, this year could be special. Great QB and running backs. Very good kicker, receivers and both lines greatly improved from start of last season.

 

I think sometimes we confuse hustle with talent. The QB is talented. A couple of the sophomores have potential to be good athletes. But there is no team speed that I could see. I did see some decent linemen. I think the kids and staff did a great job last year to have such a nice season.

Too many question marks at Mercer. They could end up with a QB controversy.

 

I doubt that... They have a returning starter. Would think it is his job to lose, unless he is injured. They did lose a few OL, but the only real loss on defense is Goodman (which is a big loss, admittedly).

It's all good. Trying to keep threadjacking from taking place. I'd say the same if this was a Garrard County 2014 thread and we were talking about Boyle County.

I would say that Boyle's main weaknesses for 2014 is a lack of home-run hitters at receiver and running back.

 

Still, they have won big with less talent, IMO.

I am not sure what running backs you are referring to GCHS. Stuart-Hoskins and Brown will provide Boyle with one of the of the better two back combos in the area. With the exceptional running ability of the QB Robbins to add to that I'm not sure what more you would want in your so called home run hitters. Even though their receivers may not be speed burners, they can catch the ball. Some of these younger kids that played a great deal last year will give Boyle's passing game more of a presence along with the other offensive weapons they have. I wonder how many games GCHS actually saw Boyle play last year or how many of these kids were hurt like Stuart-Hoskins that never were really 100 % if he did see them in action. The less talent you are referring to, as compared to who or what teams?

Who is the Brown kid? What is his whole name and what year is he?

I believe it is Eric Brown . He will be a Jr this year. He was #25. Played a lot on defense and really started to come toward the end of the year at RB. Ran a kickoff back for a TD in one of later games in season and had some other TD's as well.

IMO Boyle will be better at the running back position this year than they were the last two years.
