Sure Boyle will miss Seph on both sides of the ball.It was so unfortunate that he played with injuries for much of his last two years. Most players wouldn't have even been on the field in that same situation. This doesn't mean that Boyle won't be better though.

I am not sure what running backs you are referring to GCHS. Stuart-Hoskins and Brown will provide Boyle with one of the of the better two back combos in the area. With the exceptional running ability of the QB Robbins to add to that I'm not sure what more you would want in your so called home run hitters. Even though their receivers may not be speed burners, they can catch the ball. Some of these younger kids that played a great deal last year will give Boyle's passing game more of a presence along with the other offensive weapons they have. I wonder how many games GCHS actually saw Boyle play last year or how many of these kids were hurt like Stuart-Hoskins that never were really 100 % if he did see them in action. The less talent you are referring to, as compared to who or what teams?

 

I don't know who was hurt or not, but in the 3 games I saw, Boyle didn't seem to have any real gamebreakers at RB or WR. Robbins is definitely a gamebreaker.

They will miss Burke in all facets of the game.

To me the question for Boyle on the Offensive side of the ball will be receivers. The Brown kid has more quickest the Burke but he is not as big. Sharpe and Hinkle should be better this year than last. Sharpe has the height to go get a ball and hinkle has the body but has to work on the hands. On defense Boyle has to have improvement for the secondary. Not for sure who will replace Burke at linebacker, that may be a questionable position too.

Boyle will be very physical, fundamentally sound, and excel in ball control as well as the homerun ball (throwing deep 5-6 times a game). Different year, same Boyle team.

They went undefeated in the regular season with no real gamebreakers and I thought the second string running back was as capable as Burke and he will be back. You never know what will happen when you have a athlete as Robbins touching the ball on every play. I think Boyle sohould be just fine his year if they find some players to replace the linemen they lost. Just my observation.

And I am SURE that Chuck will have some interesting things up his sleeve....opening onsides kick or two?

Remember that Boyle was a very young team last year. Give all of the sophs and juniors the extra year of strength, size, speed, maturity plus adding Chuck Smith and I think people will really be surprised at the talent level of this group. It has been amazing already in the off season to see the transformation some of these kids have made physically as a result of the weight and conditioning program. This team can be very special if everyone stays healthy.

Food for thought. Mercer beat Boyle 31-30. Mercers qb rushed 25 times for 120 yards. Less than 4 yds per carry. Boyles qb rushed 13 times for 129 yards,10 yards a carry whose the better runner? My question is why someone on tbe Boyle sideline did not see this,and Mercer is supposed to have all the speed? Feed the man till they stop him then everything else opens up.So, from what i am hearing the Boyle offense will be set up different this year, might change everything.

Smith will manipulate his offense to go with his offensive personnel. That's a fact. Defensively, they will be pretty much the same. Kicking game ALWAYS comes into play when talking about the Rebels.

With Smith back the attention to detail will be totally different you will see much better fundamentals than the past few years the little things that Boyle has been good at will be elevated to another level Chuck is a perfectionist when it comes techniques and fundamentals. IMO Boyle has not swarmed to the ball on defense like they use to when Smith was coach the gang tackling will return the strength and conditioning program will go to another level and I would expect to see a lot more balance on offense, in Chucks first tenure Boyle passed the ball about 60% and ran about 40% of the time which was totally different than French's 65% run 35% pass offense which in my opinion was very easy to defend. I expect every facet of the game to go to another level under Smith.

Amen. The other big plus for Chuck and his staff was their presence in the Jr. high and grade schools. This is where your foundation begins and where he built the tremendous program for BC when he was here before. Can't wait.

You're exactly right his feeder program was second to none, I expect to see big changes in the youth football program.
