Hope Litzler comes back. I feel like kicking is half mental and that could have been a big problem for him last year especially if he was a sophomore kicking for the first time. Can only assume he'll be better this year if he comes back. Do you know what the kicker on this past freshman team was like? Is he playing?

 

I do feel like Litzler improved as the season went on. The problem with having soccer players handle the kicking is they do not get reps in at football practice everyday. You need to kick with THE center and THE holder as much as possible. And also get live reps in with entire PAT/field goal team against a defense. It is hard to find the time to do this if your kicker is one of the football players....very hard to do this when you are using a soccer player that may or may not be able to be at football practice. This is not a knock on Litzler. His sport is soccer and that should be first on his priority list.

There aren't many strong kickers who also play another position so the soccer team has the majority of candidates for the position. Add in that CCH has a strong soccer program with a nice tradition. Fish where the fish are.

Cov. Cath. has had some excellent kickers to say the least in the past 15 years to say the least. Sometimes the well gets a little dry at certain positions, especially a specialty position like kicking. But either way the kicking game should be a little bigger of a focus point over the summer than it usually would be.

Apparently they did that and did not like the results and now the kid is not returning. Like someone else said above, you are better off having your kicker in the program than having to rely on the soccer team to provide you with one. Still do not believe there is not someone in their program that can perform these duties.

Even if you go back to the last CCH win in 2006 the numbers remain ugly for CCH...

CCH is 2-11 last 13 games vs HHS.

HHS avg margin of victory in last 13 games (including the 2 they lost) - 19.9

 

I know rivalries are about more than the on-field game - the tradition, the fans, the families, the deep community roots, etc. - but the on-field game itself has become completely lopsided. I don't see how that's debatable.

No, I wasn't being (completely) flippant, I don't recall the CovCath faithful ever shrinking from the CovCath / HHS conversations or debates. I don't feel like the fan-base has slipped off into the woodwork waiting to pounce after another elusive football victory.

Nice 7s tonight. Princeton really forces you to be good , accurate, and on time with the throw. One of the few teams you see that presses at the LOS.

 

Not sure if this was CCH's first 7s of the year. Looked good in spots and rusty in others. Wagner threw some nice balls and seems to be entrenched as QB1. A lefty came in to relieve him. I assume that was Dressman (no jersey numbers). He was off. SOPH Hentz is going to be a nice QB. Better arm than some of the varsity QBs I've seen in other 7s this year.

 

Best player on the field is Elijah Ball who is the son of former Bengal Eric Ball. Really nice receiver. Has offers from UC, UConn, and several MAC schools.

Yes, this was CCH's first 7v7 of the year. Glad to hear Dressman made it, but it doesn't surprise me that he was off. Pretty much been nursing his shoulder for the past several months and just got the green light. I think this was probably his first action even counting practice.

Tony Hentz has a terrific arm- just lacks confidence. He will be a good one if he can get that and put on some more weight.

I agree that CovCath had some real positives, especially on offense. They don't have a dominate WR in the mix, but have a bunch of very quick, surehanded options. You have the Irish gang (Mcdowel, Mcclure, and Mcginnis) all had good nights. I think that was to be expected. You also had some nice plays by Rensing, Haughy and Crawford. If Wag's can stay healthy the Offense looks potent.

Was not there but you see some teams play the 2 deep man under defense is 7-7, a defense that you basically cannot run in a real game. I am not sure if that is what Princeton did on defense but I do not understand why teams play that defense in 7-7 instead of working on their game type coverages. Boone County does this and I do not see the benefit. On the flip side, if this is what CCH faced it really helps the wr's to learn a strong, quick release from the LOS.
