Honestly don't think it's a silly rule. Sports are a secondary when it comes to education and if it's to dangerous to attend school for the day, then it's also to dangerous to play a game. Sort a like it was when I was a kid and stayed home sick. My Parents rule was if your too sick to attend school then your sick all day and that includes when school was out and my brother and friends were outside playing!

 

IMO danger at 7am shouldn't stop a completely safe environment at noon. Common sense can be involved in making decisions for school events in the evening.

I agree. The team wasn't taking the bus to back country roads. They would go down Dixie Highway, get on 275W and then merge onto 75S.

All Friday afternoon and evening activities, including night school, were canceled.

The district sent an email to parents Thursday, saying school was cancelled because of "unsafe road conditions on side roads and in subdivisions, combined with forecasts calling for the continuation of bitterly cold temperatures that will not allow road conditions to significantly improve."

District officials said the cancellation, the seventh day missed for winter weather, means students will be in school through June 5.

I know that the day St.Henry played at Tates Creek that the Fayette County schools were closed due to bad weather.

In today's sue happy world, the School Board is just covering their butts and the schools, and you really can't blame them.

Kind of being serious, kind of making a joke, but........What's the chance Dixie is not invited to any "out of the area" tourneys next year???? This is the 2nd year in a row these "silly rules" have caused cancellation of games.

 

It's going to cross the minds of these tournament organizers going forward. Not only is going to hurt Dixie in the future, but also Scott and Simon Kenton.

Dixie had to forfeit in last year's Republic Bank Classic first round, took a loss and dropped into the losers bracket

 

Scott was in the same situation but had a first round bye.

Now, if something like the buses not being insured for that 24 hour period on days when there is no school, I will acquiesce, but then and only then. This total game cancellation situation is out of control. Highlands and Campbell County cancelled tonight??? How bad is that???

Kenton Co. BOE lacks common sense, but this is what happens when previous "hall monitors" are in charge.

Your statement that I bolded makes absolutely no sense , because roads that are dangerous at 6-8am can be in perfect condition by 5pm.
