Why can't their parents drive them?

Why can't we just delay the games until the weather takes a turn for the better? Isn't that the smart thing to do? It's funny that it's OK to postpone a game at halftime because the floor got slippery, yet school districts get raked over the coals on these boards for canceling when the entire infrastructure-transportation system gets slippery.

Because it is stupid to cancel games when the roads are clear. Asinine. Lunacy. Idiotic. Utterly stupid.

It's a liability issue, plain and simple.

The first time a student athlete is injured or killed while driving themselves to a game or get stuck in a ditch and freeze to death as the current weather situation may be, the masses will go crazy and wonder why that student wasn't on a bus or why they didn't cancel the game.

It's really a no-win situation so why not error on the side of caution. After all, it's just a basketball game.

This involves more than whether the main roads are clear. Many of the side roads are still icy. It got down to 5 below last night. You comfortable with a carful of kids in a disabled vehicle when it's 5 below and 10 o'clock at night? I sure as heck ain't.

 

Just look at these games to be made up as a bonus come February.

Just as comfortable as I am transferring my kids and my wife to wherever we need to be whether it be work or practice. I don't stay inside just because I need a coat on.

My comment wasn't in regard to if they should have played last night, or tonight. I'm not from the area, so I don't have any idea how the roads are. My comment was simply a reference to the "No school, no games" policy.

Seems to me that the two Caths could complete their game prior to the doubleheader at NKU on Feb. 14.

As far as the larger matter, again, I have no problem with the cancellation policy in conditions like we are experiencing. Nobody wants to see cars driven by teen-agers broken down on the icy interstate with big rigs whizzing by at 80 mph, or school buses getting stuck trying to make it up Taylor Mill Hill. School boards are responsible for the welfare of the kids, and not to simply satisfy a bunch of bored, middle-age basketball dads.

 

Are you snow-bound in a cabin in the woods or what? EVERY main road in NKY has been free on snow and ice for days, you need to get out more.

Serious question if it's a liabilty issue to let kids drive. Then why do schools such as Covington Holy Cross still have classes. Like I said earlier a good chunk of those students live and drive on the same roads as Scott and Simon Kenton kids.

By the way, wouldn't you agree with me that NewCath and CovCath fans should worry more about completing their condensation game before accusing the Kenton County School District of "playing it soft"?

 

 

1. The single mom should, and could find another parent to drive the girls to the game. BTW, none of those girls had a problem getting around all week to the Mall, The Leeve, or their boyfriends house since they've been off all week.

We don't know if the teams will square off in the regional. They didn't last year. By the way, this ain't a make-up, this is completing a suspended game. Is CovCath going to refund $3 for every $6 ticket purchased that evening?

 

Why don't the two schools just schedule the second half of the game at 4 p.m. Feb. 14 at NKU?
