Trinity will play 10 regular season games in 2014

According to Dallas Jackson, formerly of Rivals.com, and currently at Nationalhsfootball.com, Trinity has filled it's 2014 schedule. "Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Charter is slated to travel into Harry Jansing Field at Marshall Stadium for a contest on Sept. 5 and Cocoa (Fla.) High will come to Derby City for a game on Sept. 19." This is very good news for the Shamrock faithful! Road trips to Indy Cathedral, Cin Moeller and Colerain, and a trip to Ensworth outside of Nashville, are already set.

Here is the schedule per information presented:

22-Aug at Ensworth (TN)

29-Aug Carmel (IN)

5-Sep Imhotep Charter (PA)

12-Sep at Colerain (OH)

19-Sep Cocoa (FL)

26-Sep at Cathedral (IN)

3-Oct St. Xavier

10-Oct at Manual

17-Oct Male

24-Oct open

31-Oct at Moeller (OH)

I just look at that and think "what a grind". Please nobody else try to talk the #1 SOS. Its a waste of time.

Lots of out of state opponents for the Rocks. Is this their desire to play better competition or is it because they are having trouble scheduling in-state opponents? I'd say both but I am surprised that they haven't scheduled anyone in-state outside of the district games they are required to play in.

I won't speculate as to the reason, because I'm not "in the know". But if you check the schedules from the last several years, you'll find the trend is the same.

Congrats to the Rocks on getting a full schedule. I am sure it is a challenge when no one wants to play you.

Yeah, I have looked at that and I definitely did see a trend (2011-2013 specifically). I know the better the football team, the more willing you are to go out and play the better teams but its still surprising to me that they wouldn't schedule anyone from inside their own state besides their district opponents. Still a good handful of quality opponents like Bowling Green, Scott County, John Hardin, Highlands, etc. in the upper echelon of classes that could give them some good games and are local.... ish.

I don't know much about Cocoa this coming year, but having coached in KY and now coaching FL, the speed will be much different than playing Midwest power teams. T may likely have the advantage on the line, but the skill guys is where the real challenge will be.

What happened to the Bishop Gorman game in Vegas?

The all out of state schedule IS NOT Trinity's first option. BG opted out of continuing the series a few years ago, Scott County's coach is one of the most vocal supporters of separating public and private schools and stopped scrimmaging Trinity several years ago. He won't even consider a regular season game.

Can anybody tell us about Imhotep Charter? To travel from Philly to Louisville they must be thinking they have a strong team.

Lost in the state championship game this year.

BG's contract with X ends after this year, maybe they could give the Purples a call.

If in state teams don't want to play them, then good for heading out and finding other competition.

No Highlands?

No Highlands?

Look at the scrimmage results. Dale didn't want any part of it as a "real game".

I hope the Rocks can cope with this schedule. Last season - based on the way the team turned out - I thought Trinity might have overscheduled. Had they played a more normal schedule, I think the team would have finished better. ...gained more confidence. Just my opinion. Maybe the coaches expect this team to be quite improved. I sure hope so.
