January 22, 201412 yr If Cueto can stay healthy, he and Latos make a solid 1-2 punch. The big question, obviously, is his health. Leake was simply outstanding last year, as a #5. I'd also feel pretty good about him if you slid him to the #4, and figured Cingrani is your #5 this year. I'm not so sure about counting on either one of them to be your number #3, though. So, I really wouldn't mind having Homer back to fill that role (if the $$ is right). If Arroyo happens to be available at the right price, I honestly wouldn't mind him either. The thing everyone's got to keep in mind, is how this team is going to perform offensively. If Hamilton struggles from the leadoff spot, and Phillips plays more like the second-half of last year than the first, and Votto's has another "down" year...it wouldn't matter if you put Koufax, Seaver, Gibson, Ryan and Carlton out there every day...this team is still going to lose it's fair share of games. Hard to consistently win every ballgame 2-1 or 1-0.

January 22, 201412 yr Yep, and Cueto won 19 in 2012. I put as much stock in Leake winning 14 games again as I put in you winning 14 games. Leake made unbelievable strides forward last year, and while I really hope that is an indication of things to come, I look at it more as a bounce. Again, I hope I'm wrong and he is a solid and dependable guy going forward. ....and hasnt been able to pitch slow pitch softball since, he is injury prone and IMO will be done with baseball due to injuries in 3 - 5 years. Sign Homer, trade Cuteo while you can (if you can.)

I seem to recall the Reds blowing at least 5 games that he started & was in line to get the win......and that's why it's such a hard number to get to. You don't think any other pitcher who didn't get to 18 was in the same boat?

"That's kind of tough to do. You see a lot of the signings that are going on, so, of course, it's going to raise eyebrows on my behalf. Obviously, with a mid-market team, it's tougher for them, also. We're just going to have to see how everything goes." Sounds to me a lot like he's saying, "they want to get it done, but I want that $$"....

I'm kinda tired of the "I think Homer is gonna have a big year" refrain. It's the same song season after season. Define a "big year". I say trade him if it makes sense at all for the club. His value is as high as it's gonna ever be in a Reds uni.

The market is crazy for starting pitching.
