January 27, 201412 yr See ya Homer. I'm kinda tired of the "I think Homer is gonna have a big year" refrain. What constitutes a "big year?" As I previously noted his numbers are pretty darn good compared to all of MLB starters. In 2013 Latos was 19th in MLB in innings and Homer was 21st. Homer was 40th in MLB in ERA. 150+ starting pitchers in MLB. Homer was 16th in MLB in WHIP. Homer was 13th in MLB in Ks. Homer was 35th in MLB in quality starts.
January 27, 201412 yr ??? I'm assuming that is for me? I don't think they can sign them both to extensions. I think Homer would be cheaper and probably close to the same results for less money.

January 27, 201412 yr I saw Jocketty said they were close to a deal with Homer. I guess the definition of close comes into play. They weren't close with arbertration numbers.
January 27, 201412 yr Just throwing stuff out here, how many times did Cingrani have a back issue last year? That would be a worry for me with a guy that young.
January 27, 201412 yr Now come on guys Homer is still a prospect hes only 28 and coming off a stellar 11-12 year. Keep Latos let Bailey walk next year and Stepenson will be ready. :walk:
January 28, 201412 yr People still judge a pitcher by his personal W-L record? Thought we moved past that...
January 28, 201412 yr People still judge a pitcher by his personal W-L record? Thought we moved past that... We have. W-L record is about as meaningless as a stat as there is for pitchers when determining their "worth".
January 28, 201412 yr It's another stat that is important. When the CY award is given to 12 game winner with an outstanding WHIP,ernie and the rest, wins and losses will no longer matter.
January 28, 201412 yr It's another stat that is important. When the CY award is given to 12 game winner with an outstanding WHIP,ernie and the rest, wins and losses will no longer matter. Felix Hernandez was 13-12 in 2010. Won the Cy Young.
January 28, 201412 yr It's another stat that is important. When the CY award is given to 12 game winner with an outstanding WHIP,ernie and the rest, wins and losses will no longer matter. You mean like in 2010 when Felix Hernandez won it with a 13-12 record?
January 28, 201412 yr You mean like in 2010 when Felix Hernandez won it with a 13-12 record? Yep, like that. Happens all the time doesn't it? You disregarding wins is no different than someone disregarding all the stats you swoon over. Not one ounce different. Pitchers have incentives based on #'s of wins. Guys get voted into the hall because of a benchmark of wins. Teams go to the post season because of them. I agree there are more important stats to evaluate when analyzing a pitcher, but wins are the MOST important stat. Because without them the other stats don't really amount to much when you're a starting pitcher.

January 28, 201412 yr Wins are the most important in measuring IF we are talking about a team. How are they accumulated? Who dominates that stat? Starter, correct?
