Thanks for the thread NWO.

When the polar what-not went through the area a couple of weeks ago some friends and I were discussing the last time it had been so cold in NKY. I finally came up with 1994, but had forgotten it got that cold (20 to 30 below, really).

Also knew we had a lot of snow and the interstates were shut down, but I didn't remember how much snow we got. Seem to remember it wasn't a ton of fun, but I didn't mind it so awful much then. I want no part of a similar thing now though.

The outlooks for the time period starting The 27th into February could be a brutal period for us. Very cold temps with reoccurring systems producing snow possible.

Thanks for the cheery news there Mr. Sunshine!

Seriously, thanks for the heads up, love and missed your weather related threads. But, I thought I made it clear I want no part of what we had in 1994 again. If we get it you understand I will hold you solely responsible, correct?

GOTTA GET THE BREAD AND MILK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is really cool. WHAS posted over an hours worth of coverage from that time.

Gotta say...the coverage of the story of the community who came together to plow/shovel an area for a helicopter to land so a little girl could get to Omaha for a liver transplant made me cry.

I remember this storm so well. I was stuck at the hotel where I worked, and I can't tell you how many people from out of town read me the riot act because the city shut down. I'm like, "Dude! I'm a front desk clerk. I can't help you. Want some coffee?"

And for the record, if any of you young whippersnappers want to know why people go get bread and milk, watch this video. In our neck of the woods, a significant snow event used to have serious, serious impact on travel. And travel includes the transport of our foodstuffs. Be thankful we now have more snow equipment and more advanced methods of dealing with such events.

Good grief! That was 20 years AFTER my senior year of HS...!!

I did make some good $$ that week shoveling driveways and digging out cars.

I lived in NKY at the time and I swear I do not remember this. I remember 77-78 vividly but not this. We were talking about the 94 winter at my granddaughters birthday party this evening and everyone else remembered it. I should remember, but weird that I can't.

Had a two day poker game because of this.

I went to WKU to party with friends the weekend it hit. I was stuck at WKU for a week because the interstates were closed. That was an awesome week. I don't remember much from it other than the 9 hour ride from BG to Lexington.
