I was 12 years old, and we lived at the bottom of this hill on a rural, country road...talk about sledding paradise. We actually used those red saucer sleds and once the snow got packed down it was on for the next week.

Yes it was

Jan 19, 1994 the temperature at the Greater Cincinnati airport was -24.

But it was a lot hotter if you were at this event:

Jan. 19, 1994 – #22 XU 82, #19 UC 76 in OT

For the first time in the history of the Classic, both teams were ranked. The benches jawed at each other throughout the game. Bob Huggins refused to shake Pete Gillen’s hand afterwards and Gillen spouted off at the Bearcats’ coach. The exchange showed sports’ fans the intensity that leads to bragging rights in the town. The karma proved to be bad for both schools. UC ended up 22-10 bowing out in Round One of the NCAA tournament. Xavier (22-8) hit the high point of their season with that victory. They lost to Evansville by 30 the next time out and finished by going 2-1 in the NIT. It would be Gillen’s last game; he left Xavier as the school’s all-time winningest coach.

I went to WKU to party with friends the weekend it hit. I was stuck at WKU for a week because the interstates were closed. That was an awesome week. I don't remember much from it other than the 9 hour ride from BG to Lexington.

I was a student at WKU then. Gee...we could have met 20 years ago!
