May 12, 201412 yr For those of you who are just show watchers....Things are about to get really good. Peter Dinklage was outstanding last night. Looking forward to it. The entire show from here on out should be solid. My only criticism of the show last night was the Reek scene. Pretty pointless if you ask me. I guess designed to show how far gone he is?
May 12, 201412 yr She's my favorite character. I haven't read the books, but I get the feeling she is going to make some people pay. Hopefully not Hound, I've grown to like him. Me too. To me, one of the most interesting things about A Song of Ice and Fire, both the show and the books, is the way Martin's characters and storylines are used to play around with the traditional high-fantasy notions of honor and chivalry. At this point in the show's run, to my mind at least, the three most interesting characters in that regard are Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, and The Hound (Varys is the other character whose intentions are masked by the way he carries himself in public, but not in the same way as the other three.). Jamie and The Hound in particular are like warped versions of longstanding fantasy tropes. It's great stuff.
May 19, 201412 yr Author I loved the entrance they gave the Mountain. Perfect example of him in about a 2 minute clip.
May 19, 201412 yr Had a feeling the prince was going to step up for Tyrion. Tyrion needs to live, his character is great.

May 19, 201412 yr I just read an article that said because one the close relationship of GRRM with the show runners there is much license taken by the show with more to come. That said in the books didn't Bran meet Sam before going north of the Wall? As I recall Sam was sworn to secrecy from Jon because Jon would try to stop Bran on his quest. Could this deviation just be a way to show that conflict in Bran without the Sam sub plot? Bran met Sam in the show before going north of the wall didn't he?
May 19, 201412 yr Had a feeling the prince was going to step up for Tyrion. Tyrion needs to live, his character is great. I saw that coming too. They gave it away in previews.
May 19, 201412 yr Bran met Sam in the show before going north of the wall didn't he? He may well have and I just don't remember it.
May 19, 201412 yr Bran met Sam in the show before going north of the wall didn't he? Yes. It was in the tower where they were hiding when Jon turned on the Wildlings, and Ygritte shot him full of arrows as he tried to escape.
May 19, 201412 yr I thought Oberyn and Tyrion's scene last night was one of the best in the series. I was expecting the final scene of the episode containing the trial to have been Oberyn declaring himself Tyrion's champion, but I think splitting it the way they did was best. And I guess they can come back to the trial setting next episode for Oberyn to formally announce it - I'm thinking the looks on Tywin and Cersei's faces will be too much to skip.
May 20, 201412 yr My roommate is currently watching the series, and just started reading Game of Thrones. He needs to hurry the heck up so we can theorize together.
May 20, 201412 yr Yes. It was in the tower where they were hiding when Jon turned on the Wildlings, and Ygritte shot him full of arrows as he tried to escape. Thought so.
