Exactly why it would have been great. Just a quick shot, of course there wouldnt have been much build up. Most show watchers I would assume think its a great episode. While I agree it was, there was so much more they could have done. At least now we have something to look forward to next season.

I think there are a couple of things that they are going to leave us hanging on until next season.

Not terribly shocking.

Put me in the officially disappointed camp. I really thought what we all expected was going to be the big reveal and cliffhanger for next season. Oh well.

 

Other then that I really enjoyed the episode. The heartwarming reunions Tyrion had with both Shea and his father were just as satisfying as I expected.

I really think people are over-hyping that scene that wasn't in there. I've seen talk about it elsewhere and people are catatonic about it. It was in the back of my mind before the episode that it ended the third book, but I thought Stannis surprising the wildlings and saving the Wall and Tryion/Tywin were going to be the major scenes. And then you can add Bran's scene, which doesn't happen until the fifth book. Maybe we need a "spoilers" thread to talk about it. :lol2:

I doubt it. They've already included a lot of plot/scenes from the fourth and fifth books. I imagine they've read a manuscript of the sixth book by now or will before they finish out next season. After that, Martin won't be able to keep up. Coincidentally, HBO has renewed it for two more seasons, so I wonder if they are planning on "passing" Martin or just wrapping it up.

I'm ok with this. I know there are going to be changes and I accept them. I don't accept Tyrion leaving Jaime the way he did, or how he basically used self defense to kill Shae. I think they are trying to make Tyrion the good guy in the series, and that doesnt seem to be what the series is about.

Great episode TV-wise. Terrible episode book-wise.

 

Ruined a lot of stuff, particularly Jaime and Tyrion's conversation. That was BUTCHERED.

So reading some online stuff, I've came across multiple theories that the reason the show didn't include "the big surprise" that most expected was because they may leave out that plot line altogether. The show runners already know the endgame for the book and to continue on their path for the show they may be forced to leave out side plots if they don't tie in to the major points of the show.

 

That is a true and interesting thought, however, I doubt they do that with this one. I won't be upset if they skip it but it'd be awesome to see.
