January 5, 201412 yr I agree, a pattern has begun of terrible first round losses. Lewis - They are a much better program now than the 90's. But we need an upgrade now to be on the next level. I would look to make some changes but not just dump everything. The coaching stability has helped change the Bengals to a legimate NFL competitor. Although I don't think you fire Lewis this year. You definitely have a detailed expectation for the team next season. Unless htey had this talk last year and if so he gets fired. Dalton - When did we think he was a peyton manning. I do not see him ever being a major NFL QB threat. Arm strength is not there and big games are terrible. I do not see a franchise QB on the horizon either. MAy have to stick with him another year. Gurden - Jury is about to come back with a verdict and its not good. He has to share this responsiblility of offensive. I would find a new OCOORD before a head coach. JMO.
January 5, 201412 yr While I agree that stats don't lie in regards to Marvin, the Bengals are more talented than in the lost decades of the past. It's time to hire someone new at the helm & try to get them over the hump, while most of the current talent is still here. Not sure Dalton is the answer, as he's just too inconsistent for my tastes, and his lack of arm strength shows too often. Questions are will Mikey pull the plug on Marvin and can they find a QB upgrade before their stars move on--I think the clock is ticking??

This is going to be a long off season folks and I will not hold back with my disgust. You didn't hold back last year and you ended up being very wrong on a lot of the things the Bengals did in the off season. However you won't get much argument from me on these two things you just stated. Marvin Lewis definitely should be gone. And Andy will be back but they should not even think about extending his contract this off season. Their is really no free agent QB's out there, however they definitely need to draft one. So this off season probably won't be like last year for us, we are going to agree on a lot because this season at the end of the day was a failure. To much talent to once again lose in first round and that comes right back to the Head Coach and QB.

We are now into the 2nd decade of this century and stll have 0 post season wins. People please quit using the 90s as your crutch to somehow convince you that the bengals are better than they were in that horrible decade. Both decades (I'm talllking the 90's and Marvins decade plus here) have more non winning seasons than winning seasons, the difference is the 90's have a post season win. sorry but Marvin isn't better, actually he is worse than the 90's when all is said and done, and Marvin has had more time to try and catch up to the 90's playoff win total.

Won the Super Bowl in 2007. Lost first playoff game in 2008. Won the Super Bowl in 2011. So Eli has 3 first round losses just like Dalton. And Eli didn't go to the playoffs in the first 3 years of his career also. My brain says you guys should relax and be careful what you wish for but I am not a Bengals fan. Sure. It was Eli's 4th year as a pro. I just don't understand the rush and desire to get rid of a QB in his 3rd year as a pro who has made the playoffs every year of his career so far. Be careful what you wish for. He isn't an elite QB but I feel like it is way too early to dump him.
January 5, 201412 yr Change is needed.. No way Dalton, Gruden and Marvin all survive this but it is Mike Brown.. I'm telling you guys, it's the Bo Jackson curse. Only way it's lifted is if the Bengals meet the Raiders in the playoffs and beat them or if Mike Brown relinquishes control of the franchise. Neither seem very likely.
