I really can't believe this is even a discussion. Football is played unless there is lightning. I wish I could be there but since we lost last week, I have my Swedish son, Sebastian Johansson #71, starting for Marshall playing for a conference championship.........in Houston, TX. I hope it's not too warm there.

Again, this has nothing to do with playing. It has to do with the travel. Same reason a few 100 basketball games are cancelled each year and they play indoors.

I understand that but if the weather has been forecasted this far in advance, travel sooner to miss the weather. I don't see this as an issue.

The problem you have is what if it starts icy rain at 8:00 fri morning and you decide at 9:00 or 9:30 to cancel the game till sunday due to hazardous road conditions. By that time, all the fans from both towns are already well on there way. When you have fans, team busses, etc having to travel 3 or 4 hours, they'll be on the road at 6:30-7:00 in the morning. I hope that the teams decide to drive up thurs night and if the fans are smart, they'll do the same and avoid such a situation.

I think the icy rain isn't supposed to get going until Friday afternoon. I could be wrong, and of course we could all be wrong. Never know exactly about the weather.

Your point is valid, bug, but those 100 basketball games are rarely postseason and to my knowledge have never been in the Sweet Sixteen. There were a few football games postponed this fall with them being moved to Saturday and a couple were even moved to a Monday. It's easy to move regular season games. Moving state finals is another bear altogether.

Exactly, it's not like these are district games where teams are traveling across county to get to the stadium. Teams are traveling 3-4 hours in good weather to get there. Change it to bad weather/road conditions and it could take teams upwards of 6-8 hours just to get to Bowling Green and hopefully they get there safely. Remember there will be a lot of high school kids out trying to drive in this stuff.....

And get stuck in Bowling Green, they're expecting a round 2 Saturday night in to Sunday.
