The Knock Out Game

Featured Replies

.........

Here is what will be interesting, and forgive me if this has already happened and I missed it. Since these kids are around 15 (or at least were in the situations I heard), what happens when they swing on an adult male, don't knock him out, and then he retaliates and whoops the back-side of a minor? I know the public will get it, but the last thing I'd want would be that guy to then be tried / arrested for assaulting a minor.

Sad and ridiculous situation.

To your point, experienced, trained concealed carries do probably are less likely to be targeted because they are aware of surroundings and carry themselves confidently. The fact that you have to worry about stupid stuff like this anyway, is a sad statement.

The pure randomness of these attacks are what makes them so hard to defend. I don't care how tough you are, or whether you think you can take a punch or not, if you just get randomly attacked and caught with a hard, clean blow, out of nowhere, there likely won't be much you can do to defend yourself or retaliate.

Yep... I was going to respond to UKfan's post, but this sums it up. If somebody throws a hay maker at you, and you aren't expecting it, the chances of you staying on your feet are slim and none. I don't care how much you think you can take a punch.
You both are correct in saying if you're caught unaware there isn't anything you can do about it. I would hope if these things are happening in public, others would take these punks out. A couple of adults applying a beat down on these cowards would be applauded by me.

Obviously the general public needs to be aware of this so they can be on the lookout to prevent themselves from being a victim, but I'm afraid that the national media exposure that it's getting will make this crap increase.

I think that in part the thugs will savor getting the attention, and it wouldn't surprise me if some of this is a result of the Trayvon Martin case verdict as some sort of illogical "take things into their own hands payback" from the racial tension that was helped to be created by the media that drove this case down the nation's throats so irresponsibly.

Of the countless murders that happen in this country that go unreported, the media found this one to have a juicy enough flavor about to run with it so they'd have a constant story to go to on slow news days, and it didn't do our country any favors.

So as a result, we've got ourselves another news item that inadvertently will probably not do the country any favors either.

Sure it's a Catch 22, to report, or not to report, but aside from blaming the idiots perpetrating such despicable acts, I also blame the media for playing their part in helping create this nonsense to begin with.

You know the answer to this one. In the society we live in, the "victim" (a/k/a the idiot that delivered the punch) will probably be awarded $500,000 and the adult sent to jail.

I'd say it would depend on how far they took it. You certainly have a right to defend yourself and your life. I'm not positive but I think the victim of the one punk that was shot as a result of this game hasn't been charged.

I agree. I guess that after I shot him, there would be a fallout no doubt.

Saw where Al Sharpton has spoken out against this.

I didn't even realize the "perps" have been young black males. He said something to the tune of, "We wouldn't stand for this if it were happening to us, so we need to make it stop."

Did Al Sharpton actually say something with some substance?

He did, I was shocked.

He did' date=' I was shocked.[/quote']

Consider me shocked as well.

Good job to Mr. Sharpton....I guess?

I am mostly afraid for my boys as they walk every where. I have been jumped before and I have a spider sense for trouble now. They are so naive, that I really worry. As for self defense, you can only meet force w/ the force that met you. That being said, if you are sucker punched, I'd think that you are in fear for your life and it would be a very gray area regarding use of deadly force.

How would anyone be able (a jury I suppose) to determine if I felt that my life was being threatened? Evidence that I had been struck from behind. Now if I shot the dude in the back as he walked away, perhaps I could see it.

He didnt realize they were black males, does he not watch the news? Heck he works for the news, how can he not know that.

Who are you talking about? I'm the one who didn't know they were black....

Tell that to Trayvon Martin.
