On the PBS site, I don't know what reason(s) may be involved in the game not being played there, so I want to tread lightly here.

 

But, if cost of the facility was an issue, the Bengals should be blasted in every media outlet available in the city this week. When those lobbying for PBS being built (at the cost of Hamilton County taxpayers) one of the many promises they made was that the stadium would be available for events exactly like this. For a time, it was. I haven't seen it lately.

 

Here we have two Hamilton County high schools, playing the game of the year in Cincinnati, and the game will be played in another county. This, while the Mecca Hamilton County taxpayers built sits dark and empty. As I said, there could be a lot of reasons for this, I just hope cost is NOT one, because...

 

A lot of fans (many of whom will be Hamilton County residents) are not going to be able to get into this game at Mason High School. If the game is at PBS, not only does everyone get in, but everyone can come downtown and spend money wherever before and after the game. Good for the players, good for the schools, good for the fans, good for the businesses that invested in downtown, and an example that maybe the taxpayers of Hamilton County made a good choice.

 

This makes to much sense which is exactly why it won't happen in Cincinnati/Hamilton Cty.

Strange but true PBS was sold to those in Hamilton County not only as a place for the Bengals to play but for games just like this one too. Talk about bait and switch by Mikey Boy!

 

PBS will be dark this weekend as the Bengals are on their Bye week, so think of 35,000 to 40,000 High School Football fans before and after the game roaming around the Banks spending money on a weekend that those Restaurants and Bars were looking at a slow weekend. Do I honestly think 35 to 40 thousands would come to the game? Sure do!!!

There is some talk now of switching the game to PBS.

Portune: Play Moeller-Colerain game at Paul Brown Stadium

 

Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune says Mason High School’s stadium is not big enough to accommodate the crowd that will come out for the Moeller/Colerain high school football playoff game.So he’s suggesting the game be moved to Paul Brown Stadium, which is owned by Hamilton County.

The Bengals have confirmed to county officials the stadium would be available this weekend. A team spokesman said they’re waiting to hear from the parties involved.

The county owns the stadium, but the Bengals have to sign off on any event that happens there.

I live in Mason, the school is a junior college. Excellent field and stadium.

Rent is a lot less.

 

I'm sure you are correct but these third round D1 games are usually at Nippert. Heck a few years ago Colerain/St. X was at PBS. Lke Sandman echoed, the Hamilton County championship is being played in Warren County.

As a Moeller grad, I would LOVE to attend this game! The opportunity to hang out with some of my BGP "brothers from different mothers" would be frosting on the cake!

It is a very nice facility that holds roughly 3,000 to 5,000 LESS than what will be needed. However, with the game being televised live as well as inclement weather,chances are it will stay at Mason and seating won't be an issue.

I was surprised by the choice of Mason High School as well. But UC does host Houston at Noon on Saturday. I guess someone decided that wouldn't be enough turnaround time for a 7 pm high school contest.

 

Very surprised Paul Brown Stadium isn't the site. Bengals have the bye next weekend. Shouldn't be any conflicts there at all. And, if the weather cooperates I could see this game drawing 15 to 20 thousand.

CF, you seem quite knowledgeable about Colerain HS. What is your take on the game? IMO, having seen both teams handle Trinity, I think Moe might be a tad better----deeper and stronger.

Will Moe have trouble stopping C's ground attack, though, with their tough and shifty backs?
