I think you may need to be more specific. I have seen bands play between offensive plays BUT have also seen bands play during the oppositions offensive plays.......from huddle thru snap.

Anything by Air Supply off-limits.

Not sure about the rule but I have no problem as long as it stops when the offense breaks the huddle. If it's a no huddle offense it shouldn't bea allowed. If home crowd wants to disrupt opposing teams, get your fans out to the game and make some noise!

Look - I love the atmosphere at Johnson Central - the band, the fireworks and the people are great.

But playing music over what may be the loudest stadium sound system in the state, all the way into the offenses cadence is too much. As well, I noticed they seem to only do this when the visiting teams offense has the ball.

Football ain't hockey. In a hockey venue the music gets queued up at ever break in play. In football music should be limited to between quarters and timeouts. Not sure the rule but seems this should not be allowed.

Even "I'm All Out of Love"? Darn it!

Pretty sure each state decides on when the band can play. Ohio does not allow it once the offense comes to the LOS.

1) The band is not to play or cheers be given when the ball is alive

by rule.

2) Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create

any noise that prohibits a team from hearing its signals. Drums,

cymbals, bells and mechanical noisemakers shall not be used to

assist cheering.

^ If I am Trinity I would be on the phone with the KHSAA making sure the Refs and Male are briefed on this before their game this week.

 

Also, based on Bluedad's take, it appears Johnson Central may have been in violation.

What is the definition of a "Live Ball" that may be the tripping point here.

I take it air horns are also not allowed during "Live Ball" times. This was a violation during a game earlier this year when Cooper was kicking an extra point to go ahead in a game late in the 4th qtr by oopposing fans. What would be done in that case? would the team be penalized? Just curious....btw,, the kick was still made lol, but right after the snap right as the kicker was kicing the baall the air horn was sounded to try and scare or mess with the kicker. Just curious if the penalty was enfornced, what would the penalty be?

My guess is when the time clock is running, meaning once the stripes puts the ball into play and the offensive team has xxx seconds to put the ball into play!

 

Indeed Guru, the JC Band did it once, but the sound system piped it out all night long over the PA system with the ball in play and only stopped it just prior to the snap!

At Male it's not a band it's a DJ over the PA system that fades as the team breaks the huddle.

Ryle plays music through the PA all the way to the snap. Have for years. It's annoying and shouldn't be allowed.
