gchs_uk9 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Reminds me of my basketball averages. Reminds me of my freshman year GPA.
dolamite Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I could easily see him being the next Brandon Bass, or even a poor mans Brandon Bass. Not what you need out of the #1 pick. I mean I may be wrong who knows? 5 games into a rookie season is way too early to tell, but to me he seems like somebody who is a great college player and so so pro player.
SvFan4life Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 He's the next Adam Morrison. :lol2: Or maybe even Darko

BaseballIsLife Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 What were the Cavs thinking? Bennett was a good prospect but wasn't worthy of the #1 pick. Then again, no one really was.
blueandgold73 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 What were the Cavs thinking? Bennett was a good prospect but wasn't worthy of the #1 pick. Then again, no one really was. He was overweight and hurt. Why they took him #1? I don't think I'll ever understand. Was just a flat out awful pick. Should've took Oladipo, McLemore, or Noel. Even Otto Porter if they want a SF.
BigVMan23 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I think they saw him and thought "the next Larry Johnson" which would have been worth the first pick. But I never viewed him that way. I saw a big strong kid who could be very good in college, probably too short and/or not athletic/quick enough to excel at the next level. He's kind of a tweener, and tweeners don't usually work out very good in the NBA unless you are great at something. And I don't see Bennett being great at anything. Still early though.
TTS_JF Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 It's early to judge him based off his few games played; that being said I don't view him as a big impact guy in the league.
Michael Corleone Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Michael OLDCandy something or other, drafted by the Clippers.
JokersWild24 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 If you are the Cavs and it's such a weak draft, do you really want to take a guy whose going to improve you enough to get a worse selection in next year's loaded draft? I think plenty of teams took that philosophy in this year's draft, taking a guy whose capable of being a solid rotation guy (which is a piece of the puzzle that you need), but whose not capable of pushing you into more wins in a year when tons of teams are going to be tanking. Cleveland and Charlotte are two examples of this. Aside from that, Cleveland has Andrew Bynum, Tristan Thompson, and Anderson Varejo. To me, Noel is too similar to Varejo offensively to be valuable to the Cavaliers. I guess you could look at trading them, but I'm not really sold on Noel being a sure-fire thing in the NBA. There were lots of concerns with him heading into the draft, and I think teams passed on him for a reason. I think Oladipo will be a solid pro and is probably going to be the best player in the draft in the long run, but outside of him and Michael Carter-Williams, I'm not really sold on anyone else looking like they are so much better than Bennett that we could say it was probably a mistake to pass on them given what was known at the time.

But time will tell anyway. Definitely wasn't a lock on who should have been the top pick. All are struggling right now.
