Definitely wasn't a lock on who should have been the top pick. All are struggling right now. Know what you mean on a trade, but I don't really know if there was much of a market for the pick considering. Not really sure how attractive they are to free agents either, though if they spent their money wisely, it might not matter as much.

Yeah Cavs tried to shop the pick like crazy but there was definitely a shortage of takers.
November 17, 201312 yr Author Aside from that, Cleveland has Andrew Bynum, Tristan Thompson, and Anderson Varejo. To me, Noel is too similar to Varejo offensively to be valuable to the Cavaliers. I guess you could look at trading them, but I'm not really sold on Noel being a sure-fire thing in the NBA. There were lots of concerns with him heading into the draft, and I think teams passed on him for a reason. . Both of them are extremely injury prone and getting old. They could have taken Noel and sat on him for the year like Philly is doing and still be in position for a lottery pick this year.

Yea… I just don't know that you can play Noel and Varejo together offensively. Noel and Thompson together defensively lacks size for guys who are just bulls like Randolph, Aldridge, etc. I think Noel has more long term injury problems than were let on. I remember reading a rumor that his most recent injury could have been caused by him playing through injuries back in high school/AAU. Then there were the draft questions about the people surrounding him. One of his handlers was banned from the High School he ended up graduating from. Between the injury and handler questions, Noel was a pretty big risk and I think it showed. Agree that they could have taken Noel and been in great position for a lottery pick this year, I just don't know if he's going to give an NBA team very much long term. I hope I'm wrong though.

He's going to give you at least what Varejo gives you long term IMO. Rebounds and blocks right away and he's working on retooling his jumper. If he can get any consistency at all with a jumper he will have a nice long career.Varejo has a team option from $10M next year so you can easily let him walk and you don't have to worry about them playing together.

I personally never saw the appeal of Bennett. Whether he was the first pick or the 10th. I know he is listed as 6'8" but he never felt that tall to me.

November 21, 201312 yr With that said I was not seeing 5-37 for Bennett. I thought he could be a role player for a few years, and he may still turn in to that. I still contend the bulk of this draft will be out of the league in 4-5 years.
