I read where Elam was downgraded from four star to three star by Rivals. Apparently Rivals scouts attended his game vs Highlands where they saw him struggle against man blocking, played with a high pad level, and showed a lack of conditioning. All are issues that can be fixed and that is why he is still a high BCS prospect. It does reflect exactly what I saw in that game film and confirms with an 'expert opinion' that his on field performance does not warrant awards that represent the best player in the state. They are very concerned with his conditioning and weight management. In D1 he won't be able to get away with biggest guy on the field anymore. That's like high school bball players who are 6'6" then go to college and see most other players are as well.

I think the only person who can beat Fant for this award is Drew Barker and I mean that with absolutely no disrespect to Kuntz and the great season and career that he had while at SK. I hope he and Fant get to hook up at WKU.
