Let's be fair to Matt Elam. Nick Saban comes to his house in order to try to CONVINCE him to come to Alabama. He may not be the best player THIS YEAR but let's not not kill the kid as a player.

What I'm saying is publicity pplaysd such a big role in these types of awards that some players who have had better years gets overlooked a ton of times.Not saying Elam isn't one of the best in the state at all, I hope he chooses UK. I understand what you're saying but I just don't think I agree overall. I'm struggling to think of a year where Mr Football went to a player who wasn't deserving and got it because of "publicity." I do not think Elam will nor should get it. My point is that some people are really killing the kid. Saban, Stoops, and Kelly are planting themselves in the kid's living room.

I'm not killing him nor meant to sound like that. Elam is a great player and like I said hope he goes to UK. The winner usually is the most deserving, I am talking more about the others who make up thee finalists for the award and how many other players who should be on the list aren't even thought of because they don't get the publicity. It'snot much different from other awards like heisman etc. where many years many players are overlooked, i'll stop now and just leave it at that.

Four punt returns for scores last season. 99 yd kickoff return against McCallie this season. Numbers would be much higher, but kicking to him is suicide to the opposing team. Has a 56 yard TD pass this season.

 

Takes role as team leader very seriously and is a great role model for the younger players. Verbal commitment to WKU (they got a steal!!!)

 

Fant is my choice for Mr. Football/Player of the Year.

I'm sure this applies to several Mr. Football candidates but over the last 2 seasons Nacarius has been pulled at halftime and first possession of 3rd quarter probably 12 to 15 games. His current numbers would be at least 30% higher in all categories.

 

Hard to explain how much he has done for the Purples. I hope they give him the trophy, he has earned it.

I wasn't talking only about D Linemen. I was talking about Defensive players period. You not being able to list any of their names is my entire point. There were 2 in NKY who were among the nations leaders in tackles through the majority of the regular season and you not knowing who I'm talking about proves what I've said all along.

If you go by biggest impact or most valuable to a team then why not...

 

Scott Daniel - Scott County/WR/EKU commit - 1,302 all-purpose yards - 20 TDs - 112 yards/2 TDs in 6A state championship game - Came back after missing three weeks (10-13) with a fractured leg (Nov. 1).

 

Playing for a team that ran the ball 46 times a game versus 7 passes a game. Averaged 14.1 yards a catch.

I won't even give you a linebacker, how about a safety that through most of the season was among the country's leading tackler. Henderson for Cooper. Like I said, i could care less about d-linemen, yoou made my point when you have no clue about anyone else and just go with the publicity and pre season hype. There are plenty of other players like I said you will never know of simply because they haven't gone to the camps and combines and gotten the publicity. If you went by stats then youur boy wouldn't even be mentioned period. You want to talk D-Linemen and you gave the stats for Elam, llet me help you out. I don't know of a lot of D-linemen so I could only go off of the team I know the most about, Cooper. J Nueman ha 86 tackles, 7 sacks and who knows how many tackles for a loss. That was only 1 D-Lineman I looked up on the team I know the best. Which again proves my point, you don't think publicity ppl;ays a huge role in this award to come up with the finalists? I just gave you 2 defensive players who had better seasons than Elam on a team that won't get a single look to when it comes to awards like this. 2 players that outside of the Cooper family or their district, no one ever heard of. Yet you listed Elam's great stats (and they were great stats)) yet I showed you 2 other players who had even better years and don't bring up the double team stuff, you don't think Nueman who was the only reutrning starter on the line wasn't doubled?
