And based on the recent past, this championship will be the end of their success. The regression is real after the freshmen year. It should be the other way around, but I think it's happened the last 3-4 years. Do well at the freshmen level and then nothing at the varsity level.

 

What kind of lesson is this for the kids? Win the regular season and then take your ball and go home.

What rational thought process could it be other than that? Gee, we are so good that we don't need "our" kids to get anymore reps. Are the freshman really going to help the varsity this year? If so, things are worse at that level than we know.

If the championship game was mandated to be played by a governing body (I do not know who that would be) then I would expect it would be played. I find it hard to believe that Ryle doesn't have to play the game simply because they don't want to. They must have the right to do so or there must be an agreement in place. It really doesn't matter what anyone's opinion is unless you have the power to make the game happen. Either way, I am looking forward to some good varsity playoffs...

I'm guessing if Ryle ever makes it to the State Championship game, they should probably go ahead and not show up for the championship game because they do have exams to study for and all.

YOU PLAY THE GAME TO WIN. If not, why keep score? Why strive to get better if there is no common goal at the end? For those who post it’s not a big deal, they should just feel good about getting ready for varsity ball. Are you kidding me? Is that what WE all thought when WE were playing freshman football? Hell no, we wanted to win every game with a chance at being the top dog for that season. Kids live for the moment.

That's good news. I assume the Athletic Directors talked as it should be. The coaches provide input but I believe the AD's determine the schedule. Congrats to both teams on great regular seasons and I look forward to the Championship game Thursday night!

I find this almost comical how all these CCH fans are slamming Ryle when their program did the same thing to HHS....twice. I know, I know there is a thread a mile long on the CCH ducking the Birds in JV. Good luck to the Undefeated Raiders, if its true that the game will be played. In retrospect I guess I can understand why the parents want that extra game considering the number of games they will play next year at the jv level.

Not even close to the same thing. While I don't support canceling the JV games, deciding not to play a Championship simply because you already beat the team in regular season is a joke.

 

The logic is ridiculous. So anytime a two teams face eachother in the playoffs, they should not play the game and just use the regular season game to decide it? :no:

Hopefully I can clear the air. When I posted this morning, I was under the impression that Coach Warner and Coach Wirth had spoken and agreed that players from both teams that wanted to would be moving up to next level on their respective teams. I was miss informed. I was told this evening that the game will be played at Ryle on Thursday at 7 PM.
