"Hampton Inn" "Oh, they have good food. Eat there." WHAT? Go to New Orleans and eat at the Hampton? Might as well go to McDonalds. Reminded me of a line - it's like going to the Sistine Chapel and not looking up. Off to Jacques-Imo's Cafe..... Hampton! Most people will tell you to go to Cafe Du Mond for breakfast. I'm here to tell you that no matter what you do, you can NOT pass up the Uncle Herschel's Favorite at the Cracker Barrel!

Morning Call café in City Park is every bit as good as Café Du Mond...plus it's cheaper, plus it's kind of in a cooler setting (the middle of a park with ENORMOUS live oak trees), plus it's less crowded.

October 24, 201312 yr Expand your horizons, brother. Don't limit your opportunities to experience some of life's great creations. The sauce was outstanding. Sausage had a nice taste. Shrimp was nice. I could have gone for another slice. Bear in mind that his horizons extend all the way to meatloaf, red cabbage and oatmeal.

October 24, 201312 yr Author I just finished a very tasty bowl of chicken and andouille gumbo and a BBQ shrimp lunch. 3rd bowl of gumbo this week.
October 24, 201312 yr It's on the expensive side, but my wife and I were at a wedding in New Orleans this past spring, and the rehearsal dinner was at a place called Ralph's On The Park. It's right on the edge of City Park in Lakeview....right by Metairie. Had one of the better steaks I've ever had in my life there. A ribeye. Their boudin balls were absolutely amazing too.
