Scott 28 Cooper 21

First off Congrats Scott on a very well played game.

The officiating did not take away from how youu all played tonight.

With that said, as i posted during the game thread here is what was so bad about the officiating. The worst officiating I've seen.

2 fumbles by Scott, first one Cooper recovered, the ref called the play dead and gave bball back to Scott. 2 plays later Scott fumbled again and recovered the ball 7 yards bbehind the line of scrimmage, in the words of the ref..."It was a ffumble but I blew the whistle when he fumbled and since scott recovered I gave them the ball where I blew the whistle" Which was 1 yard from first down marker.

Final drive of the game, then it got really good. First a WR for Cooper was tackled in the endzone before the ball got to him....no PI called.

Fussinger catches his 2nd TD of the game on final drive, got both feet down 6 inches ffrom the endline, beautiful catch and toe tap for a TD, 2 Refs standing right there loook at eachother wanting the other to make the call, neither one seen it apparently and called him out of bounds. It was horrible, worst case scenerio it should of been a tie game but Cooper probably goes for 2 to win the game. All that and not even talked about the horrible Intentional grounding they didn't call, Scott's QB scramblingg for a 25 yard loss and about to get sacked and throws the ball that lands 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage , no call, instead because it was toward a oo-lineman they called ineligble reciever and only a 5 yard penalty from line of scrimmmage. Plus there was a brand new rule I never new of, they tthrew a flag on Cooper D-lineman when he made a tackle on 3rd ddown short of the first down by tackling the runner by pulling him down from the FRONT of the jersey and the ref callled a horse collar on the play....what made it even funnier is the ref even demonsttrated pulling him down from the front of his jersey lol.....first down.

Like I said, nothing against Scott, it's pretty neat to see them doing good this year, it was just about the officiating which no matter what Cooper did they weren't gonna ggive them a chance in this one which was sad.

Congrats Scott on a exciting game!!

I was on the field, and thought the crew got many of those calls right. Couldn't tell on the toe tap TD. But the grounding call was right...a Scott player was in the area (and caught the ball), but he was not an eligible receiver. The first fumble, the runner's forward progress was clearly stopped and he was being pushed backwards when he fumbled. As far as the horsecollar, you cannot grab the neck portion of the shoulder pad to tackle the ball carrier...front or back. The last PI, I saw clearly (and have a picture of it) and it was a clean play.

The two dropped passes at the end....one was a tough catch (ball was down at the knees) and the other it looked like the receive just short armed it. Cooper played well, and even though they were undersized, they more than held their own against a much bigger Scott team. I was a little disappointed at the play of Scott's big guys on defense. Like Raiderbird said, they are going to have throw the ball at some point in time. Cooper basically had all 11 in the box, and Scott only took two shots, and got big plays off of both of them.

With Conner's loss, this district is a complete toss up.

Congrats to Ken Mueller and all of the hard working folks at Scott.

Seems since they upgraded their facilities the ball club has "bought in" and taken themselves more seriously which has produced improved results.

Very happy for them. Enjoy the ride!!!!!!

I'm hoping Scott continues their roll, it's nice to see and long overdue. As far as the officiating, we'll have to agree to disagree, the toe tap was clearly in as eeveryone who cold see it saw it including the kyfan photographer who said he was clearly in. I also forgot about the worst call of the night. Cooper's RB rushes for a TD, falls 2 yards deep in the endzone and the refs call him down at the 1. Almost forgot about that one, there were so many bad calls it's easy to lose track of them all lol.

Like I said, I don't take anything away from Scott, they played great. Just a shame that the game couldn't be decided on the field by the two teams but instead had to be tarnished by officiating.

The other stuff I could somewhat understand but that's just rough right there man.

Way to go Eagles! :ylsuper:

The ball was caught by a Scott, player, he was just ineligible receiver. None of these calls were game changers anyway. Scott made a couple more plays than Cooper, which is why they won. Too many fumbles, and too many dropped passes for Cooper.

What was rough about it? Also on the toe tap, the ref said the reciever was pushed out of bounds...even though it was after he got his feet in bounds in the endzone, but either way it shouldn't of mattered because the new rule thhis year I hear is if a reciever is pushed out it is a completion. If that is true then it makes it even a worse call.

The TD catch on the last drive was a definate game changer. the fumble which should of been 3rd and 7 instead of 3rd and 1 was a deffinate game changer. The fumble that Cooper recovered was a deffinate game changer.

I think this is the current wording for the horse collar tackle:

9-4-3k

(No player or nonplayer shall...)grab the inside back or side collar of the shoulder pads or jersey of the runner and subsequently pull (backward or sideward) that opponent to the ground (horse-collar), even if possession is lost. The horse-collar foul is enforced as a live-ball foul

I don't see how this can be called by tackling someone by grabbing the front.

Thank you Clyde, that is what we all thought. That was the first of many bad calls tonight.

Clyde, do you know the new rule apparently about pushing a reciever out of bounds? I hear it is like thee old NFL rule where it is considered a catch if he iss pushed out of bounds. not that it should of mattered because Cooper's reciever was in bounds with both feet down before he wa pushed out of the endzone.

If it was a TD, then yes it was. I was on the opposite side of the field. But it didn't appear that it was protested all that much by Cooper. Also, There is no force out in High School football

I'm pretty sure that high school (and maybe college) are different than the NFL. I think the player has to land and it's not a judgement call if he was pushed out.

I heard the rule changed this year to be like the old NFL rule. Although it doesn't matter because he got both feet in anyway, even witnessed by the games photographer.

IT was protested big time by Cooper. Coach about lost his voice on that one alone. EEvery single person on the sidelines were screaming at the ref and the player himself still says there was no reason at all that the ref should of blew that call, it wassn't even close. It would be one thing if he came down close to the line, but the ffact he was a good 6 inches from the chalk and even after the call was blown you could see the spot in the endzone where he dragged his toes as he was being pushhed out of bounds, two black lines clearly in bounds that was also pointed out to the ref. black lines caused from the black beads under the turf that is created as you drag your feet.

It was a shame because it was one of the best catches this year too.
