It's hard to say Scott was underrated when there was talk long before the season started about some saying they may win their district this year and how it's the best team they possibly ever had. I don't think underrated is accurate, I'd say they are one team so far holding up to their hype thus far.

This could well be the best year ever for the three Kenton County schools as a group -- Dixie, SK and Scott.

Clinton County, from 3 win-less seasons to 3 wins in a row. I know they aren't going to win anything at the end of the season, but amazing turnaround for those kids and coaches.

Russellville- possible State 1A Champs

Very good point, I think with all the talk UK#1fan does, this year might be the year his SK actually holds up to all his hype, at least as far as the NKY 6A teams go.

Henry Clay anyone? They are undefeated with a narrow win over Tates Creek. They had a disappointing year last year, but seem to have gotten off to a fast start this year.

Whose played better than expected so far in this young year?

 

I'm gonna put Belfry on this list. I think the folks of the Pond Creek Nation had an idea of how good they could be this year, but might have been too smart and/or humble to let on to what they had. Any others?

 

I don't think you can put state runner up teams as underrated teams coming in..... I think that you should be reconsider your definition of underrated. Possibly just start another thread about how your team has higher expectations this year.

To me, Collins is another team whose performed pretty well considering.

 

For those that don't know Collins is the school that was created after Shelby Co split into two schools. While down over the years compared to the 70-90s Shelby Co has very good talent. Now most of that talent came from the West Middle School district which is what feeds Collins. Through the years before the split a majority of the Shelby Co team was from the West Middle School District. So what has pretty much happened is Shelby Co playing in a lower class than 6A. People from the county knew what Collins could and more than likely would become.

It is interesting that 4A Collins has the better talent, but 5A Shelby County is the larger school. Will the schools level up in size in the future or will Shelby most likely always be larger?

There is plenty of room for Collins' district to expand with new housing but I think it is going to be awhile before the two schools get closer in enrollment

As much as this John Hardin fan hates to admit it, Central Hardin is much improved and is blowing everyone out they play. Granted I think they have had a pretty weak schedule, but they do end up playing Collins and Meade County this year so we will see what they are made of. But they are much better than the last couple of years.
