Louisville 27 Kentucky 13

I know we are giving credit to the backs, but UL's ability to wear down the UK DL with their OL was what got the Card's offense rolling in the second half. Hell, PP92 could have run through some of those holes.

Rumph going down early killed the depth up the middle. They have 4 guys that can play tackle. If he didn't go down, I think they wouldn't have been as worn down.

Plus you replaced Rumph who weighs over 300 LBS with Johnson, who is very serviceable, but might not even be over 260

Losing Rumph did hurt.

Your dedication to try to upset UL fans that they may not make the NC game is to be admired. :lol2:

Three things:

1) Louisville did beef up their schedule, several times. It kept falling apart. Georgia, Vanderbilt, SDSU, TCU, Boise St and others at one point or another were all supposed to be on the slate this year. Louisville tried all off season to make a deal with ranked teams with open dates, even offering deals with uneven returns which Jurich doesn't like (with good reason, as Louisville pays for all their athletic improvements themselves.) Texas A&M, Bama, VaTech, Michigan and Ohio State were all approached, all chose other games.

2) After rewatching the game I think the blame for Louisville's underperformance is mostly on Teddy. His game reminded me of Russ Smith when he's ice cold and still chucking up threes and going 5 on 1. Bridgewater was immature yesterday; when he took what the defense gave him, Louisville moved the ball, but he got impatient. I don't think he's going to enjoy film this week. Otherwise, the run game was fine once they changed from a pulling scheme and the defense was obviously great. The coaches also singled out Parker who apparently didn't run his routes correctly a few times.

3) I think that Louisville failed to make a resounding statement yesterday, and I'm disappointed in the lack of scoring, but you guys have put way too much into this game if you think this is what keeps Louisville out of the title game. The fact is, this game went largely unnoticed and the national story around this game was that Louisville was slow early and took care of business late to put away an SEC rival on the road. Right or wrong, that's the perception yesterday from people outside of Louisville and Lexington. The reality is that yesterday has very little to do with what bowl game Louisville ends up in. Either the right teams will lose or they won't, but no one should be under the impression that Louisville can force their way in, because they can't. The schedule is just too weak.

Maybe because those teams were scared of losing.

What happened with the AP rankings is similar to what I expected; Louisville remained with only LSU passing them which shouldn't be a surprise to any. Louisville being ranked over Texas A&M after their overall performance in losing to Alabama makes me happy enough. The Cards will be fine by season's end if they don't lose, which I don't see happening.

Hell, PP92 could have run through some of those holes.

Let's not get too carried away.

People can talk about Louisville's schedule all they want. Yes, today's game wasn't impressive by any means for the Cards with exception to Perry and Brown. As far as losing style points, I'm not sure if much is lost as many are thinking. Regardless of how UK is, this is still a rivalry game. I still believe the Cards will be undefeated at season's end. I'm happy for UK and believe they have a good future ahead with its young guys.

I thought DeVante Parker had a very nice catch too. He's a player.

Surprised that Louisville moves above A&M given their performance against Alabama on the national stage.

I hope Louisville has a great year from here on out.

I was too and hope the same. Even if they go undefeated, they will need help with most ahead of them losing.

So what was your takeaway? For both UK and UL?

First: let's not beat around the bush, Stoops can coach. Bridgewater and the UofL receiving corps were not on the same page at all for most of the game and a lot of that had to do with UK defense forcing receivers into places they didn't want to go.

Second: Louisville's defense has really come together this year. It's looked better in each game I've seen to this point. I though they did a fantastic job limiting UK's ability to move the ball.

Third: I wasn't thrilled with Louisville's running game heading into this one. I was even less thrilled as the first half wore on. I was really impressed by OC Shawn Watson's ability to make a change or two at halftime and start to get guys running. That was a tremendously ugly first half by both teams from an offensive standpoint.

Fourth: If Kentucky's receivers could have done a better of catching the ball... holy cow.

Fifth: 3-0. I'll take it any way they can get it. Looking forward to the tailgate and the game against FIU on Saturday. Good luck to the Cats the rest of the year.

Not a chance.

Uh-huh...

We're you two at the game?

What do you think the actual figure was?

Deuce?

Ram?

Sorry, I'm not sure how I missed your first post. I wasn't at the game, I was basing my opinion off this picture, taken around kickoff...
