How is it possible to still have 154-162 games if you're ending the season a month earlier, and cutting back to only 4 games a week instead of 6 or 7?

Never said that I'd have that many games...I'm working off the less is more by improving the quality of play by allowing the players to have 3 days off each week. Each team would play 26 4 game series

I like that too, have a balanced schedule and top however many make the playoffs. I hate it when a division winner gets in with a worse record than teams that missed the playoffs.

How so? 16 teams in each league, you'd play 10 games against each of the other 15, and 11 against some. Top 4 teams from each league make the postseason.

I'd put Pete in the Hall and make the Marlins' owner sell the team after what he pulled this year.

I'd put Peter Edward Rose in the HOF, and strip the writers of any say in HOF balloting. All of them. Every single one. I'd form a committee to search for a better method. I'd let BGP hash it out.

104 just isn't enough games. More games eliminates some of the randomness of the game and the best teams usually do make the playoffs. You're also eliminating almost 30 home games per team.....lots of lost revenue that puts smaller market teams (like Cincinnati) in even a bigger bind. Plus, a lot about baseball is rhythm. I think it would be hard to stay sharp with 3 off days every week. I do get the healthier part, but injuries will still happen, and with fewer games, those injuries will have a bigger impact on a teams season.

Make every elimination round at least 3 games, except for tie-breakers to gain entry into the playoffs.

Abolish the DH rule. But if it is to be kept as it is now, when interleague plays occurs, let the home fans see how the other half lives. In other words, use the DH in National League parks but not in AL parks. This might take away a tactical advantage for the home team but it would let their fans see something new.

I would make it illegal for the catcher to completely block home plate and , therefore, make it illegal for the runner to run the catcher over.

Make all players who wish to enter the MLB subject to the June draft. Eliminate interleague play. I hate it. First time offenders for PED get their status in baseball reset to rookie, and contract reduced to major league minimum. Service time reset as well (for free agency purposes). Hold umpires accountable for continuous poor performance (Bob Davidson, CB Buckner, Joe West).

I like the uniform park idea to a point, maybe minimums and maximums for down the lines and straight away center. But I'd leave a little creativity to the teams.

 

I'd also have an umpire upstairs that is part of the crew that would review all close plays. Umpires would be paid a bonus based on the accuracy of all final calls, so as long as the booth Ump got it right crew would get paid based on percentage of correct calls. That would keep booth Ump from feeling pressure to back up field Umps.

 

Now for one the purist would hate, I'd call for automated Ball and Strike calls, players (Hitters and Pitchers) would love the consistency.

 

Contract would be limited to 4 years and I like the idea of the structured contracts with Max Contracts.

 

I would contract the league by at least 2 teams maybe 4, this would overall improve the product on the field.

 

Season would start when it currently does but regular season would wrap up Labor Day Monday each season.

 

Teams would only play four (4) games per week...they would either play Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun or Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon. All series would be 4 game series. Teams would only need a 4 man rotation. Players would play everyday for the most part, no making a 4 hour once a year drive to see your favorite team play only to have your favorite player taking a day off. Players would be more rested and more time to recover, again improving the product on the field. It would be interesting to see what order managers would pitch their #1, #2, #3 and #4 pitchers.

 

Mark Cuban would be allowed to buy a team.

 

Joe Johnson and Pete Rose would go into the HoF with full disclosure on their plaques as to what they did. Good, Great and Bad.

 

Hall of Fame voting would be changed, most writers and other Baseball Snobs would be out. Current Members would vote and one member of the press put forward by each team would have a vote.
