I find it hard to include Scott County based on the fact they've never beaten the other two members of the club. It's going to take more than merely coming close for me to include them.

I agree with the woodsider statement.

Despite the fact that folks keep trying to bring other classes than 6A into this discussion, the question really only pertains to 6A. The old Big 3 was Trinity, St. X, and Male. All in old 4A, as such the question is only relevant to those in the same class.

 

We can talk HHS in all the other threads their fans have threadjacked or SK in ine of the many threds that uK#1fan threadjacked. In the frame of reference that theguru is bringing up we are only talking about the largest class.

 

With that being said I think Scott County is knocking on the door, but they need a signature win over one of the two big ones and a state titile in order to be considered.

 

Male is an interesting study. Lots of potential there but I think they are a year or two away from being ready to try and reclaim their seat. Remember, the Bulldogs are the last team outside of T or X to win a title in the largest class and in 01, 02 and 06 there us no question they would have and in dominant fashion had the Rocks not beaten them.

So Male would beat BG and Highlands? Not!!!!!

Sorry, I'm sure he didn't see the "in 6A" part in the title. Come to think of it...I didn't either! Strange, someone must have edited it!

 

But if we are only talking 6A, my opinion is it's the big 1 1/2 right now. If X can have the year some are talking about, I would include them. But it has been a 1 pony show for awhile now. Scott Co is good and the best of the rest, but that really isn't saying much because in my opinion, 6A is not very strong across the state. It is what it is. You can say they did this and that over the last couple years, but until they actually beat someone and get respect, I have to leave them out and say it's really a 2 horse show.

In a few weeks, if St. X gives Trinity a good game (or beats them obviously) I would say they have earned their seat back at the Big 2 table. If Scott Co. or SK can get a win or a nice scare to either T or X, then that team has made it far enough to be able to maybe have an appetizer at the Big 2 table but would need follow up win to give credibility to the first win or scare or a win a state championship to be able to request T and X scoot over to give them room at the table.

 

If Male can get a win over T or X or take a game down to the wire, they can probably argue to get their chair back too.

Recently, they have become part of the discussion in 6A. T and X will are clearly 1a and 1b (depending on the season). Scott Co has moved ahead of the pack and is a distant third, but climbing steadily toward the big boys. SK is where SC was 4 or 5 years ago and is heading in that direction.

Right now it's Trinity and X. No one else is even in the discussion. Scott County hasn't accomplished anything that other schools didn't do before them. Everyone wants to say what they've done recently brings them into the discussion and I ask why? What have they done? And playing Trinity close in one game doesn't get you mentioned. One game does not make your resume. Yes, they've made it to the finals in back to back years, however they've been on the opposite side of the bracket from T and X both years. Also how did that game turn out two years ago? In case anyone forgot it was a 62-21 loss.
