September 27, 201312 yr My daughter received their insurance plan info yesterday. Her monthly premium will double if she chooses the option that is basically the same to what she currently has. She also has to sign a "living well" pledge concerning lifestyle, exercise, weight, etc. to be able to qualify for the better options, which is subject for review the following year.
September 27, 201312 yr Kinda funny that tea party types rail against govt intrusion in our everyday lives ( and mainly get ridiculed by "enlightened liberals" ) BUT here it is in black and white , A govt official will review your weight and diet and exercise level on a yearly basis. To consider how much to charge you for ins . I'm not against health reviews , not at all , but is sure isnt the role of Govt.

I receive an additional discount if I complete "healthy actions" (getting a physical, completing a health survey, and a biometric exam, which is basically a BMI anaylsis). If I used tobacco, my rates though would have gone up.

I think we both can agree that more will be known when Kentucky's exchange opens -- I believe next Tuesday, Oct. 1. For instance, for a family of four with an annual income of $48,000, one supposedly will pay $252 a month for the second least expensive silver plan. Which might be similar to what the Mangiones' present plan is. (But we'll never know because Fox didn't bother reporting this information.) Three months is probably ample time to buy coverage beginning January of '14.
