Snails rock! As long as they're not over cooked.

Yep - like pretty much any seafood.

When I was a kid we would get oysters and clams by the half-bushel straight off the docks. Many got consumed on the way home. No overcooking there.

..........Let me begin with the fact that the only pizza I'll eat is veggies / cheese only. Meat makes a pizza really greasy, in my opinion.

Like someone said earlier, many of everyone's never-eat foods I love. Example, sauerkraut, beets, onions, tomatoes, seafood, spinach, collard greens, olives, etc.

In terms of NEVER eating, the list would be short. Liver, veal, and obviously any lamb-fries / testicle variety.

Now, what I don't like much, but will eat it if served: Bacon (yes, I'm that guy), lima beans, brussel sprouts, radishes, tofu, and egg salad.

Hard boiled eggs. Just the smell of them is enough to make me gag.

Hummmm...foods...I...would...never...eat. Hummmmmmmmm. Well...does buzzard puke count as a food? I guess I'd never eat that. As for anything else...nothing comes to mind.:idunno:

Several have mentioned escargot. There used to be a nice restaurant in Lexington called The New Orleans House. They served escargot that were sautéed and then placed on a small piece of garlic toast with seasonings. It was excellent and reminded me of mushrooms. I loved those but haven't ever tried them anywhere else.

I was told there was still a New Orleans House in Indianapolis. If so I would like to visit it sometime. Excellent food.

I've been to the one in Indy, though not recently. It was top notch and would go back again if still there.

They had a killer buffet.

There's nothing that really jumps out at me.

Of course, I grew up with a Norwegian grandmother and we at lutefisk on holidays. Once you've had that, nothing else seems like a problem.

It was outstanding. Salad bar was great, I especially remember the artichoke hearts. They had a cold bar with shrimp, oysters, etc. The dessert bar was unreal. And the dinner buffet always had a unique selection and it was fantastic. Then they would come around with froglegs, escargot, and other goodies ala carte.

For a country boy from Pike County it was quite the treat.

Is that that spoiled fish in a can that my Boy Andrew Zimmern couldnt even eat ?

To me that is cheating. It is kind of like oysters on the half shell. I love them raw, little cocktail sauce.... yummo. However, I have some friends that despise oysters raw, but if you char grill them with butter and some bacon they are all in. Well, yeah, a little butter and bacon can help a lot of foods :lol2:

What you describe at the New Orleans House sounds really tasty!

Had no idea it ever came in a can. That probably wouldn't be very good.

As to whether Zimmern couldn't eat it... no idea, I've never watched his show but he sounds like a southerner (below Arctic Circle).

I'm surprised that no one has said chitterlings

I'd never eat those again. Forgot about that.
