July 5, 201313 yr The best explanation I've ever read for this is that asking what infinity times infinity might equal is fundamentally the same as asking about orange times Bulgaria. Infinity is not a number and does not represent any number -- it's a concept -- and so plugging it into a mathematical construct like addition or multiplication doesn't do anything. It just doesn't work.
