What school has the biggest following for an away game?

I can't believe Elder and HHS are playing at David Cecil. I guess you better know someone on that evening.

I was at the St. X / Highlands game this year and I was very unimpressed with how many people the biggest school in the state had at a home game.

Must have been a tiny crowd for the game, then, as many on the X side were surprised at how poorly Highlands traveled. With such tradition, a much larger crowd was expcted to travel down I-71.

You have to be careful when “looking” at crowd size at Manual stadium as it is the largest High School stadium in Jefferson County and it can be deceiving. I am sure our Manual friends can find out the exact number, but I have been told the home side can hold close to 4,000 fans. I would be willing to bet that they are another 1,000 students (male and female) on the track, under the stands, or in the end zone during a typical St. X game.

I was at the St. X vs. Highlands’s game and I was shocked at how few Highland’s fans showed up. Several hundred at best, and I heard most of them came on one bus.

By the way, I believe Henderson County is the largest school in the state. St. X probably has the most football players though.

When you double St.X's enrollment (thats how they count it at the KHSAA), X is the largest school in the state. I think Henderson is under 2,000 students.

As far as determining what athletic classification you belong in you are correct. But when it comes to comparing attendance figures, a student is a student, no matter what sex you are.

Sticky, you don't qualify for that job. You have to have at least a speck of sanity. :creepy:

Wait until you see the revised cannon crew this year. You want to talk about a speck of sanity. The new leagacy begins :creepy: :scared:

Hey Boom, am I still in! How about my friend Sweeperboy?

Not so fast my friend... some would differ with you on that point. They would say that the boys (men) are responsible for the following of male sports. They site this theory in explaining the huge attendance at the annual T/X game. All boys, hence a better following. Not saying I agree, but it has been mentioned before.

For a 2A school, Russell sure does bring quite the crowd...not only that, they come in RV's and cook for the kids after the game...They had a bigger crowd that most home teams did last year.

Obviously then you have never attended a St. X. game when they were the visiting team...although I will say the pebbles do qualify as #2 for crowd following within Kentucky. :D

However, as others have already noted above, when you include the out of state border teams, Cincinnati Elder is in a class all by themselves.

I have been to X "away" games. The rocks travel with as many or more fans than x.

Does X have a larger enrollment this year than T? I believe T had the larger enrollment a year or two ago. Anyone with updated numbers for these two schools?

Re: your earlier mention of posts asserting that all male schools travel better than mixed schools-other than prior post speculations, has anyone come across any numbers to back this up? For example, does DeSales (3A all male) travel better than other 3As?

As you know I have been to many of both and must disagree. T/X are about the same when it comes to fan attendance.

The Big Red bus can only hold so many people

I beleive enrollemnt is really close between the two this year. Both are right at 1400 plus or minus five to ten kids I believe. If an Xavieran student/parent/alumnus can confirm if I am correct about X's enrollment.

I would not be surprised if over the next five years, both schools enrollments are within 20 students of each other. Competition for students will remain intense for the forseeable future.

In 2-A I would say that Belfrey and Russell have had the biggest crowds that I have seen. In the past two years when Belfrey and Russell played both stadiums were standing room only. Two great games by the way.
