Name Top 3 All-Time Players at your Favorite High School

Featured Replies

Everyone name your top 3 players that has played at your favorite High School. They can be from any year and position. Give a brief description of their individual accomplishments and how their team faired that year.

Bowling Green Purples

1. Delvin Colton (1995). He was a linebacker that had about as much potential than any Purple over the years. His 1995 team went 15-0 to win state championship. Louisville Male coach gave some good Locker Room material for Purples saying that Bowling Green would be a good scrimmage for them. Purples went to Louisville and took care of business and went on to win it all that year. Very gifted player and great team.

2. Robert Reynolds. Robert was also a linebacker for the Purples. Went on to have success at Ohio State (stearted for 3 years, including National Championship year) and also made it to the NFL for a few years. Was simply a gifted, strong athelete. When he was in middle school he could long snap like a pro. I was one of the coaches for the middle school team and we couldnt believe the zip and accuracy of his snaps. We knew he was special.

3. Nacarius Fant. Will go down as the best that has put on the Purple and Gold by the time the season is over. Correct me if I am wrong but I do not think the upcoming Senior class that he is on has ever lost. They were toybowl champs. Undefeated in middle school, undeafeted as Freshman and is 30-0 their Sophomore and Junior Years (I know the varsity lost when they were freshman, but the freshman team was undefeated). Has unreal hands and had some of the biggest catches of any player in state against St. X and John Hardin. Already holds most records for receiving and touchdowns before his senior campaign begins. Should leave a huge mark for Purple Football for many years to come.

Is this for their high school career, or post-career success?

The current SR's (Fant and others) lost to Owensboro as Freshmen. Outstanding trio you selected but hard to leave out Spud Byrd, Dale Lindsey, Stuart Hines

This is going to be one those threads. Should be some good reading though...

Iam going to go out on a limb and say 14 pages but not until August

Good thread but just a tad bit early imo to get real excited about Football...Should start heating up aroung July 1. :thumb:

I believe that Derrick Kennedy, who played on the same 1995 team as Colton, was the best I have personally seen. That was a great team.

No chance I can name only 3 but I'll list who I would put in the convo for Conner.

70s: Dennis Ashworth

80s: Jim Dorton, Jim Pitzer, Melvin Miles

90s: Not an era I can remember a lot of players - need some help here.

00s: Trevor Stellman

10s: Drew Barker, Cam Fogle, Nick West

Of course , linemen always get short-changed in these discussions.

I like that approach. So here's a quick thought for Boyle County:

60's: Donnie Coffman, Jay Reynolds, Ed Sleet (Had to go on what I've been told through the years)

70's: Kyle Lorton, Mark Overstreet, Mike Edminston

80's: Mike Harmon, Andy Baker, Tommy Pettit (Rebel just missed the list :lol2:)

90's: Neal Brown, Brian Johnson, Bobby Leffew

00's: Travis Leffew, Jacob Tamme, Brandon Smith, Rees MacShara (Couldn't leave out Brandon or Rees)

10's: Lamar Dawson, Zach Hester, Chris Cook

Somerset

70's: Thomas "Pete" Vendable RB, Max Messamore QB,

80's: Allen Sexton TE, Scott Stevens RB, Tony Massey QB/S, James "Boo" Fletcher RB, Eric "EJ" Jones RB

00's: Neal Tucker QB, Tremain Perkins WR, John Cole WR,

10's: Storm Wilson WR, Trey Slaughter DE, Tevin Slaughter DE

Wasn't living in Somerset for the 90's and early 2000's someone else can name the best of the best from that period.

My Three for Trinity:

1994 - Shaun Johnson - LB/RB - Mr. Everything

2003 - Brian Brohm - QB - you know

2012 - James Quick - WR - you know

No chance I can name only 3 but I'll list who I would put in the convo for Conner.

Billy Samad in the 90's. I'd include Jeremy Bolton in the 00's as a lineman.

George Duvall and Samad are two I think of when remembering the 90's. Larry Moore was pretty solid.

Top three is hard for me but I couldn't imagine how hard it would be to pick if we were a football factory.

The best from the first 30 years of SK football would start with Charles Siffel (RB) and Alan Mullins (QB,RB) both with over 3,000 yards rushing. I'd have to give props to Mike Webster (DE), as far as I know he's the only Neer to ever make an NFL camp as a (OG).

After 2000 I have to go with a quartet. Daniel Morrison (RB), 2nd all time rusher with 3,600 yards, the kid was small but electric as a runner. Miles Simpson (RB) 4,900 yards, and Chad Lawrence (QB) 4,800 passing, 2,700 rushing. Jordan Hansel (T), now playing (G) at Ball State will likely be the 2nd Neer with a chance in the NFL.

Come in Clyde I can't get no love. Kidding my1st year starting at QB in "93" George Duval was 1 of the best backs in the state. Trevor Stellman was solid only because he was my ball boy and I taught him everything. Kidding again. Conner had some solid players in the 90's.

Greg Ponzer was a better all-around football player than Alan. Alan was a stud back but Greg did it all on both sides.
