May 17, 201313 yr Pretty sure they're from Tennessee. Not sure if there is a Kentucky connection. I believe they are originally from Oklahoma, but the brothers' father was an itinerant preacher, so it's probably hard for them to call any place home.

Houndmouth is actually from New Albany. Know a couple of the guys in the band. But there are so damn good I don't mind claiming them.
May 17, 201313 yr Also Nappy Roots got their start around Bowling Green. Not sure if they are native Kentuckians or not. The Nappy Roots are all native Kentuckians and formed as a group in Bowling Green while attending WKU and they did indeed get their start around Bowling Green. One is a Bowling Green native I believe the rest are from the Louisville area. The one from Bowling Green, Big V, has left the group to pursue a solo career and his son is Blue Tisdale, starting running back for the Bowling Green Purples. I believe Blue was the MVP in the state finals game. Blue also is an aspiring rapper as well. He will be a senior next year. Big V was two years behind me and spent everyday entertaining us all at lunch with his rapping talent. We are all proud of Big V. Big V was a heck of a running back as well.

May 17, 201313 yr Nappy Roots was at WKU while I was there. I had classes with Ron in the graphic design department and use to see them at kinkos putting together their CDs. I had no idea Mike Doiughty was from ky. Where? I lived Soul Coughing and his solo stuff. Joan Osborne is best know for her song "If God was one of us"
May 17, 201313 yr I had no idea on the two bolded. I used to work with Adrian Belew, got to go backstage when he was playing in David Bowie's band back in early 90's Out of that list Jim provided, he forgot about Pure Prarie League
