May 6, 201313 yr It was Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe. He is on Mike and Mike right now explaining his vote. Basically, Lebron is best player but Carmelo was Most Valuable to his team. Dan LeBatard doesn't even have a vote!! Where did ya'll get that he was from Miami? I listened to him on the radio this morning as well. In my mind he doesn't have too, but I thought he defended his vote for Carmelo Anthony very well. I might not agree but in his mind, he voted for the right guy?
May 6, 201313 yr I have no idea of what the outrage is? MVP is a subjective award and there is an ambiguous definition to what MVP means. I would have voted for LeBron. But LeBron in Miami should be in contention for the award every season now because his degree of difficulty with two All Pro Caliber players at his side has greatly diminished. People act like that is tragic to even mention that. Melo has nothing remotely similar to Wade and Bosh by his side to free up space.

The Heat without Lebron are probably still a top 3 team in the East.

If you look at this as MVP and not Player of the Year, his argument is definitely valid. In fact, you might start questioning how LeBron got 120 votes if you look at it that way.

Anybody who didn't vote Lebron as MVP should have their head checked. Gary Washburn validated his vote but like Stephen A. said, "I'll respectfully disagree." Not even MJ put up Lebron's averages this year. I don't care who Lebron has around him this season he had was stupid. How he isn't the unanimous MVP blows my mind. Just like how MJ wasn't the unanimous MVP every year he played after 1988. Lebron topped last season, becoming the first player, according to basketball-reference.com, in NBA history to average at least 26 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and shoot better than 56% from the field. Stupid.
