An arrest has been made in the Boston bombings investigation based on two videos showing images of the suspect, a federal law enforcement source told CNN's Fran Townsend.

Boston University graduate student Lingzu Lu has been identified by the school as the third person who died in Monday's bombings at the Boston Marathon.

FOX saying a third federal official is also saying no arrest.

There are probably conflicting reports because these channels report everything. Relax, do a little confirmation, and then put the information out. But the way of the cable news station (and networks, too) is to get eyeballs first, worry about the facts later.

I'm just tuning out this Boston coverage for now. Obviously, we incentivize the media to run with every half-baked lead or rumor because we guzzle it up the second it's on the screen. I've been guilty as anyone. I just saw an article "analyzing" the type of explosion it was, as though I was going to solve the mystery of the Boston Bomber from my desk. These news outlets shouldn't be collecting ad revenues for disseminating this nonsense. So, I'm turning it off.
