If Jodie Meeks had returned and played for Cal

Had this discussion a few days ago.

If Meeks returns are they able to hit enough shots to get past WV and into Final 4 in 2010...probably

If Meeks returns, Eric Bledsoe probably stays til his sophomore year. Would have been enough to help Knight and Jorts past UConn and to the finals...maybe

So the point that was made to me was that if Jodie Meeks stayed and played one year for Cal, UK would have been in 3 straight Final 4's and would have possibly won 2 (2010 and 2012) championships.

Do we need to fire up the Delorean and go back to 2009 and talk Jodie into staying one more year?

You never really know with things like this. For all we know, Meeks could have messed with the chemistry somehow or some other domino fallen to where UK ended up not quite as good as what they were. I certainly don't think that was the likely outcome, but you never know. I do wish Meeks had stuck around and I do believe UK would have been better for it, but I certainly wouldn't come close to projecting it beyond the first year.

This is similar to the speculation that if Michael Bush would not have broken his leg, UofL would have beaten Rutgers, been undefeated in the regular season and therefore would have stolen Florida's spot in the National Championship and would have beaten OSU for the national championship.

While you are playing the what if game...what if Kanter had been ruled eligible and Meeks had come back... Could that have been a 3 year run that rivaled 96-98?

Of course while we are on it... Had Azibuke come back for his senior year... Tubby may still be the coach.

This one is easy.

Now way would UK have beaten Duke that year. Boom. End of discussion. Move along. Nothing to see here.

You ain't gotta go home but you gotta get the hell out of here.

Biased here but agree. That Duke team was playing their best ball of the year and the way they were shooting, they would have punished UK.

Speaking of Azibuke, always thought that had Marquis Estill returned, we'd have another banner in the rafters.

Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Love that line. Could Poy be the next in the Kalenna mold?

I always thought UK's length & athleticism would be too much for Duke. I was never worried about them in 2010. And that was without Jodie Meeks.

I have compared 2010 Duke to 1998 Kentucky, in that they were some of the weaker teams that won national titles.

Please. Duke would have defeated UK by 21 points. Zoubek would have owned Cousins.

I disagree. Duke would have struggled to guard that UK team.

Zoubek would have owned Cousins. :lol2: Did you mean that to be as funny as I took it? :lol2:

Absolutely. Say it out loud.

I still can't believe that team won it all. I wanted no parts of UK that year.
