Mason hasn't been in the last 3 years. Not sure when their spring break was this year.

B. This was the first year in a LONG TIME that MC's spring break wasn't scheduled during state tournament week.

For those that are talking about adding a day at the end of the school calendar; perhaps another option would be to schedule an extra hour and a half per day for a week to make up the difference. Just a thought.

Again not as easy as you think. I believe Boone Co teachers have a end date in their contract which cannot be exceeded. And say Boone Co Girls and Conner Boys win the 9th region.......is all of Boone Co school system to close each week? Does only Boone Co close the Wednesday-Friday of the Girls Sweet 16 and Conner close the Wednesday-Friday of the Boys Sweet 16? Is it reasonable to say Boone Co school is closed Thursday but will only be closed Friday if the Girls win Thursday night?

 

Entire Covington school district (grade schools too) closed on Wednesday, had class on Thursday and closed Friday since Holmes won their first round game. But Rupp is only 100 miles away. What is their girls had won and it was Bowling Green? What if the Sweet 16s go to Tuesday-Saturday? If Holmes were to play Tues, Thurs, Fri., Sat that is a lot of re-scheduling for parents to find childcare for young children if school may or may not be closed all of those days.

 

The way I understand teacher contracts to work, it's a July through June thing. Meaning, the contract begins July 1 of 2012 and ends June 30 of 2013 for everybody.

Don't believe that will happen. Still think Tuesday-Saturday format would be better all things considered.

Hopefully, they will start the semis earlier than 7:30. It was well after 11:00 when this year's ended. I wouldn't mind an afternoon semifinal round...

I'm good with a 4 or 5 PM start. Even 6 PM is fine. 7:30 is a little late to start a doubleheader but I do know the UK/FL cleanup is why it was 7:30. I hope they move it up a little also.

They couldn't' this year because of the UK game. That may be something that they will try this next year.

That was due to the UK situation. I'd guess the games will be played at 6:30 and 8, just like they are on Wednesday-Friday night. I can't envision an afternoon start time, considering the KHSAA/coaches desire was to get away from quick Friday night/Saturday morning turnarounds.

I meant to add if UK was not playing. I realize that is why they started late. Next year will be bavk to NCAA first weekend, so maybe they will start earlier.
