One final thought: While I think the Saturday semifinals are a tremendous idea, I'm still not sold on the Sunday final. I don't believe one year is a strong enough sample size, especially considering one team was local, large, and had a UK recruit. From the article I read, they hope to have a decision by the 15th of this month. On the more time needed. Rupp has the state tourney through 2018. If changed the article stated it would be through that date.

I'm not, and was never, a fan of the early start times on Saturday morning. I'm not a morning person.

Lincoln County called school off when their girls went to Diddle this year and they added the day onto the end of the school year. That's the winning answer to the argument.

 

A good answer but it gets complicated if a school also qualified for the All-A and don't forget about the Girls.

The school must make a decision if they will close and add in days at the end of the year for the Boys or Girls team that participate in the state All-A.

And do you only close on Wednesday and intend to hold school on Thursday and Friday unless the team wins? What if the team is 4 hours away from Lexington or Bowling Green?

No different than snow days IMO. Close the school and add the days on at the end of the year.

Every kid in Warren County should thank Tim Riley for getting the Thursday and Friday out of school for State Tournament. Central's attendance would be around 50% all the years Central went up to State.

Wednesday-Sunday is the best format. It gives the teams a night to rest before the finals.

Do those that advocate the Sunday finals think the early Saturday semis and Saturday night finals are MORE taxing on some teams (i.e. transition teams vs. half court set teams OR teams that are in the lower bracket vs. upper bracket)? Because, honestly, if there isn't a serious advantage to some teams, there is no way I would ever fool with the format. If you start using the "we could generate bigger crowds argument", then pretty soon you are down the path of having four classes with four state tournaments, and think about how big those crowds would be.

I don't like change much either, but..... it this case I think it is best for the teams playing. Yes I feel at times it is an advantage for some teams in the old format. You take a team that is in the lower bracket and plays the last game Saturday morning. They go into a OT, or/and that barcket was loaded and had a hard game each time, ect. Team in upper bracket easier path and more rest before the 8:00 night game. Give both teams a nights rest and we should see a much fairer playing field. It should be about the kids.

I don't see how an extra night of rest is a bad thing. The more rested...the more better, right?

To school districts who are responsible for scheduling and to parents/families who have to make alternative plans for underage children missing "another whole day of school" actually is a bigger deal than Sunday.

 

I think Julian Tackett said one reason the Sunday final was scheduled in the afternoon was so fans would have the opportunity to attend a church service in the morning if they wanted to.

Coaches, players and familys could still attend a local church in the lexington area if they choose to. Make the Sunday game around 3pm or so. Again in the likely hood playing Sunday effects only 2 teams, not the 8 teams it would effect playing on Tuesday.
