China Rejects Pyongyang's Request to Send Envoy

 

China has rejected a request from North Korea to unilaterally re-establish diplomatic relations in a move seen as a rebuke of the DPRK's saber-rattling. China doesn't care for Kim's recent foray into international bullying and wants Kim to return to the six-party talks. Russia is still the wildcard in all this and might back North Korea just to get under this skin of their rivals and because the people in charge at the Kremlin these days seem to be of a similar variety of crazy as Kim Jong-Un.

Russia is still the wildcard in all this and might back North Korea just to get under this skin of their rivals and because the people in charge at the Kremlin these days seem to be of a similar variety of crazy as Kim Jong-Un.

 

I could see Russia encouraging instability, but I also think they are fairly strategic. While they like to be a thorn in the side of the West, they've also been trying to cultivate relationships with other non-Western states, notably China (Xi Jinping's first foreign trip was to Russia). While I don't think they will be any help, I also don't think they will antagonize China.

Saw n news that the US is now backing down from show of force. Is this a sign of weakness for our administration? Guess NK called our bluff and we will just do what now.

The problem with North Korea is they are so closed to the world, who knows what they think? I am sure the people there believe everything Kim tells them and that the world is out to get them. That is what they have been taught frmo birth. The scariest part is that is what Kim has also been taught from birth. You can't assume they think rationally.

 

I think I remember reading that part of Kim's education came from England? Is that correct? When I heard that, my hope was that he more enlightened to the reality of the work outside of North Korea rather than what was indoctrinated to him. Doesn't look like that worked out too well. Maybe instead of Dennis Rodman we should send Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem and Bill Russel over there to give him high 5's.

My plan is short and sweet, Let's blow them off the map! Destroy them entirely, what if our defense mechanism fails? The threat is a good enou reason for me to say lets wipe them out totally.

 

 

If the death toll could be limited to Kim, senior party officials and senior military leaders I may be able to support this. However, there are millions of North Koreans who do not know any better other than what they have been indoctrinated to that would be wiped out in an attack. If NK starts the war then I understand, we must respond and there will be high civilian casualties but I hope we can avoid that.

A few months ago one of the news channels were talking about how many South Koreans were growing tired of the American Military being there and wished we would close the base and leave. I am guessing most of those who held that view do not want us leaving any time soon.

The 60th anniversary of the Armistice that stopped the fighting in the Korean War is on July 27th. That may have some significance in all of this.

 

Note that a peace treaty was never signed. The Korean War is simply under a cease fire agreement, albeit for the last 59 years.

There is an active reunification movement within the ROK. Fostered by former President Roh Moo-hyun, the movement reached it's height of popularity in 2007. After a bribery scandal bought down Roh's administration, the movement faded considerably, especially after his suicide. It's still there, though.

It is odd how captivated by American culture the current and previous North Korean leaders are. The current one invites Rodman over, previous supposedly LOVED Michael Jordan and had an enormous movie collection which was 99% Hollywood rather than native North Korean. For hating us so much, the sure seem to love our entertainment.

Then you have to worry about China, Russia, etc. retalitating and essentially starting WWIII.

 

 

If you don't use them you have to worry about that.

 

Countries have nuclear weapons to ensure that other countries do not use them on them. To assure mutual destruction. Therefore no one uses them.

 

 

If we get nuked BY ANYONE and do not nuke the responsible party/parties......

At some point, something has to be done...

Just saw that as well, I am afraid we will wait until American soldiers, South Koreans or Japanese citizens are killed before we react.
