March 8, 201313 yr At this point what seed are they for the SEC tourney????? At this point I believe they are still the #2 seed. Currently a 4 way tie for second with Missouri, Ole Miss and Alabama. If UK beats Florida (let me dream a little), they stay #2. If they lose, they might not even get a first round bye. Missouri plays Tennessee. Alabama plays Georgia. Ole Miss plays LSU. UK needs Missouri or Ole Miss to lose because UK has the tiebreaker over them.

March 8, 201313 yr Yep. Anywhere from a 2-6 seed I believe with various scenarios. I thought they were the #3 seed right now. Don't they have the same record as Alabama and Alabama would hold the tiebreaker.
March 8, 201313 yr When you have to rely on Polson and Hood you know your in trouble. Even with the lose of Noel I never thought it would be this bad.
March 8, 201313 yr This season is on Cal the Recruiter and not Cal the Coach. With all of the success they had last year and concentrating on keeping the winning going, it makes me wonder if they didn't let some recruiting slip through the cracks. Tubby's tenure starting slipping when his assistants got lazy and didn't follow up on the recruiting trail and lost out. Not to mention recruiting a few clunkers that didn't pan out. Poythress didn't become lazy once he got to UK. Goodwin didn't become an out of control bulldozer once he got to UK. Harrow didn't become soft and make bad decisions once he got to UK. Someone had to see these traits coming from afar. Did Cal and staff rely more on recruiting service stars than watching film or doing their recruiting homework because of the amount of work that was put into last season? While Cal has brought in top-flight talent to UK, he's brought in some clunkers too. He decided to keep Orten when he arrived at UK and that didn't pan out well. He recruited Stacey Poole and brought in Eloy Vargas. Vargas was decent at times. And of course, Kanter was never eligible. Why bring in Twany Beckham if you aren't going to play him any? But a team full of clunckers? Not a good mix. No depth. Hard to coach. No heart. No fight. That's on Cal the Recruiter. It will likely change next year, but then again, we thought UK would be just fine after a class that included Noel, Goodwin, and Poythress He had one of the top classes in the country as always, just turns out this years crop was a dud. A fatal flaw in a one and done system and missing Bazz cost him at least a tourney appearance.

March 8, 201313 yr For one reason or another, Cal has just not been able to get through to these guys. Everyone has been waiting for that Eureka moment but it's too late now---it ain't gonna happen. How do you apportion blame for this mess? Did Cal get a false read on these players (including Harrow) during the recruiting process? Are the players just inherently flawed and/or immature? What kind of job has Cal done coaching them up this season? Given the supposed prowess of the freshmen, how many other coaches in the country would have loved to have them? Could such coaches have turned them into a better team than what Cal is putting on the floor right now? Are UK fans more upset than they should be due to the historically high expectations? How much of an effect did Noel's injury have?
March 8, 201313 yr With what we did last year, and what we have coming next year, not to mention by far our best player being hurt, I will give Cal a pass.
March 8, 201313 yr Palm still has UK as a 12 seed after updating his this morning. Playing Lasalle in the play in game, then playing Pitt. Pitt could end up causing UK's soft play some serious physical damage............I can see Harrow dropping like he was shot trying to drive to the basket against that group............
